The Week After Launch.

This month, our focus at NIGCOMSAT has been on creating awareness about our organization, products, services and our mandate at NIGERIAN COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE LIMITED (NIGCOMSAT) as it aligns seamlessly with the strategic blueprint outlined by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy (FMoCIDE). 3 key attribute we are striving for is enhanced service delivery, Reliability of our infrastructure and continuity of our technology. Starting with Monday; This week has been more internally focused as we plan and realign for our next phase as an organization. A notable highlight, emphasizing the importance of ensuring our infrastructure is reliable, was the visit from officers of the China Great Wall Industry Corporation , led by Miss Liu Lan. This visit reinforced the strong need to continue delivering optimal performance on? NIGCOMSAT 1R? with the support of our partner? CGWIC, the manufacturer of the NigComSat-1R satellite.

In between I visited Mr. Ekpo Nta the Chairman/CEO, National Salaries, incomes and wages commission. Our goal being to align with all stakeholders as we work towards our goal of turning NIGCOMSAT into a profit center. This is in line with the Federal MInistry of Communications and Digital Economy, Nigeria mandate of improving ICT’s contribution to the national GDP.

Tuesday was Dedicated to meeting with various internal committees and units of our organization. A significant portion spent reviewing our operations with various teams under my leadership. As part of our media engagements Engr. Anthony Orjinta and Engr. Babalola Kayode representing NIGCOMSAT on Aso TV . Additionally, the ARISE NEWS "DayBreak" show Friday a week ago featured NIGCOMSAT's role in monitoring Nigeria's space products, with the Head of Navigation, Lasisi Salami LAWAL (SMIEEE, SMAIAA, MIET) , representing the organization.

Thursday, another significant moment was a courtesy call on Dr. Halilu Shaba Ahmed , the Director General of the National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) (NASRDA). This ?is the national space agency of Nigeria, focused in space science in order to lay the foundation for deriving maximum benefits from the nation's participation in the space enterprise. It is a parastatal under Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation - EST . We both acknowledged and appreciated the mutual relationship between our agencies and agreed to continue with a collaborative position for all things space technology.

Another highlight for Thursday? was the productive meeting with Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu(MHR).F.insAM,FOSHA(UK),MCIArb (UK) , Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. The discussion revolved around how NIGCOMSAT and the House of Representatives could collaborate to achieve the president's mandate for Nigeria to become a digital economy. With the goal of bridging connectivity gaps and providing access to the unserved and underserved, the collaboration between NIGCOMSAT, the House of Representatives, and the National Assembly holds great promise.

I ended the week on the high. I spent one hour on Friday with students of JSS Durumi in Abuja for a career talk session. It was awesome to chat with the students and hear some of them excitedly share what they want to be when they grow up. My team and I continue to spread awareness about STEM especially Satellite technology with our young minds.
