  1. Investments: Mantle, a startup company that develops a metal printer, raised $20 million in a third round of funding.
  2. Acquisitions: Printer maker Formlabs has acquired Micronics, a startup from Wisconsin that has developed an affordable SLS printer.
  3. Materials: China's Zhejiang University has developed advanced 3D printable elastomers. The researchers were able to print an elastomer with a tensile strength of 94.6 MPa using the SLA method.
  4. Metal: Chinese printer manufacturer BLT has developed a titanium alloy for 3D printing that is capable of withstanding higher temperatures compared to the titanium powders currently used.
  5. Dental: Stratasys has introduced the DentaJet XL, a fast 3D printer designed to enhance productivity and reduce costs in dental laboratories.
  6. Composite Materials: Researchers have created a spatial 3D printing method that allows for the production of thermoplastic composite materials reinforced with continuous fibers.
  7. Software: Visionware3D has launched customizable, modular workspace development software for 3D printer manufacturers.
  8. Communications: Cell phone manufacturer Nothing has released documentation to enable customers to design and 3D print the back cover of the mobile device.
  9. Inkjet: Scrona has raised an additional $4 million, bringing their total funding to $15.2 million for the development of print head technology with electrostatic ink jetting.
  10. Environment: LOWPOLY from Spain has furnished a cafe in Barcelona with 3D-printed furniture made from coffee waste.
