Week 6 ??????

Monday

Olivia was still sick so Lars took a “child sick day” and stayed home with us. She would however eat and it all stayed down. To be safe we took her to the doctor and got confirmed that what we had done was correct. During the day I took Victor out in the stroller where he fell asleep right away and I got time to do some gardening ???? I feel like I’ve been waiting my entire life to have my own garden. It’s a neglected mess, but there is so much potential in it. I donated a sharp herb knife to get those tricky dandelions in between the pavement tiles.?

One or two days ago I made a post on LinkedIn about making a type of job bank of job-seeking UX’ers and the feedback from working professionals has been mind-blowing. 5 people have written that they’d love to contribute to the project. I didn’t imagine that at all and now I’m trying to figure out how to manage such a large group of people in a way where I don’t get stressed or neglect them. Balance for the win ??♀???

The power in our neighborhood went out and it was actually super cozy to light up some candles and not have the TV on for a change.?

Tuesday?

Olivia still wasn’t completely well so we kept her home. My good friend Matilde came and helped me take care of the kids. I wanted to make a fastelavns costume (a Danish tradition similar to Halloween but without the spooky element of dressing up) for Olivia. I sacrificed an old dress to make her a Harlequin ladybug outfit.

Wednesday?

Olivia threw up again this morning and again 2 times later that day. Lars had just arrived in his employment parking basement when I called him back home. She had puked on the couch, on herself, and lastly on the floor when I picked her up. Victor was screening while I got her out of her dirty clothing.?

When Lars arrived back home, I’d manage to get Victor to sleep in the stroller outside while keeping Olivia calm because I was talking to her through the window.?

Lars came and joined her on the couch so I could put up the laundry. Then we went off to my mother's group. At that point was Olivia napping so Lars got to do some work from home without us in his hair.?

I wasn’t meant to go today and while biking there with a sleeping baby in the bike, I almost got tears in my eyes just by the fact that I got to go and spend time with these awesome ladies.?

it’s a thing I’ve been thinking a lot about over the years; people, time, and friendships. I feel like I have a million friends and on the other side I do feel like a lone wolf. I’ve always walked my own paths and I don’t have many childhood friends anymore, even teenage friends. I know so many amazing people and I want them in my life, but time is limited and with two kids it is even more restrictive who I get to hang out with.?

Thursday?

I was supposed to go to my therapy mother's group but because of Olivia’s sickness it would be too risky. Didn’t potentially want to infect 6 other babies + their moms.?

Lars's mom was home with Olivia so Victor and I took our time getting home. Enjoying the sunny weather.?

Friday?

Victor was the first to get up and me with him. As quietly as possible I packed our swimming bags.?

I’m the carrier of a DNA defect that makes me suck up most illnesses without getting super sick. So my entire life feels like a long internal discussion about when I’m too sick or too well to do something.?

I concluded that Victor and I were well enough to go to baby swimming class and baby rhythmic later on. We went to baby rhythmic with two of my co-moms and met up with a third one for coffee afterward.?

Swimming always makes me a very unique kind of tired, and at the cafe, I crashed. I found myself staring at a focaccia, trying to decide the best way to eat it… Having to bike home in the windy snow wasn’t awesome either. At home, I went in for a nap and that was indeed needed. I woke up feeling nauseous and didn’t eat a lot for dinner, so went to bed around 19 with Victor.?

That night after visiting the washroom several times I finally got to throw up the thing that was bugging me. I instantly felt better and the next morning….

Saturday?

….we had a lovely breakfast together and got dressed up for fastelavn which we celebrated in the local church. Super weird, they had a real donkey and camel there ????♀?

Olivia seemed indifferent but it was still a nice family trip.?

My mom came during the day and we went shopping for dinner with the kids while Lars enjoyed some me time.?

After dinner, my stomach started disagreeing with me and I went to bed early yet again.?

Sunday

We just stayed in and had a good time making towers with bricks and playing in general. Olivia was herself again ?? but I was not feeling great. My mom made us a delicious steak dinner, and that upset my stomach. I ended up early in bed yet again but binging the new American Horror Story episodes.?

The “rabbit rabbit” one was scary. The concept is that a movie can brainwash you into a killing manic.?What a way to end the week...
