The week in 500 words

We've reached the end of another week, and we're excited to welcome you to our weekly recap. This week, we continued our partnership with International Press Institute (IPI) and published a new report in the Media Capturing Monitoring series. We're also thrilled to share updates on the incredible work of our experts. Let’s take a look at what this week had in store for us!

  • Together with International Press Institute (IPI) we released the latest report from the Media Capture Monitoring Project—an annual evaluation of media capture in EU member states. The report focused on Poland and is part of a series assessing how national legislation aligns with the newly adopted European Media Freedom Act (EMFA), designed to combat media capture. The report is authored by Michal Glowacki.

  • Our expert, Minna Aslama Horowitz, has been part of a group of 60 international experts contributing to the first global assessment report of The International Observatory on Information and Democracy, an initiative by the Forum on Information and Democracy.?? The Report: “Information Ecosystems and Troubled Democracy: A Global Synthesis of the State of Knowledge on News Media, AI, and Data Governance”

  • At the beginning of January, our expert, Emma Briant, joined Nadine Smith of Wide Awake America to discuss the unchecked influence of tech giants and "the ways our daily interactions with technology are exploited, manipulated, and weaponized—not only against us as consumers but as citizens."
