QUOTE
"Write the tale that scares you, that makes you feel uncertain, that isn’t comfortable. I dare you. In a world that entices us to browse through the lives of others to help us better determine how we feel about ourselves, and to in turn feel the need to be constantly visible, for visibility these days seems to somehow equate to success—do not be afraid to disappear. From it. From us. For a while. And see what comes to you in the silence."
Michaela Cole during her speech after winning an Emmy for "Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series," 2021.
INTERVIEW
The mission was always to build an enormous space, that was physically real, so that you could wander forever.
The Man in the Metaverse: My interview with Second Life founder Philip Rosedale — serial entrepreneur, futurist and tech pioneer can be read here.
Also, I absolutely loved this interview with Laurie Anderson. Watch here.
FILM
Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know. A documentary about black holes and seeking progress in scientific progression, as well as deep-seated pursuit of knowledge. From Wired:
This docu-film follows two teams of scientists grappling with different challenges. One team is working to capture the first image of a black hole while the other is trying to solve the so-called information paradox. It’s both an important historical record of how major scientific breakthroughs are made and also a somewhat strange, disjointed love letter to science itself.
Watch it here.
BOOK
The wonderful Melinda Briana Epler has a new book out - HOW TO BE AN ALLY: Actions You Can Take for a Stronger, Happier Workplace .
I have followed Melinda for a long time now and really appreciate her ideas and work. In her newly released, practical and timely new book, the diversity and inclusion expert and CEO of Change Catalyst offers a playbook for much-needed change in the workplace—change to ensure everyone feels safe, valued, and able to thrive.
--------------
Have a lovely weekend all and see you on the other side.
