There aren’t many founders who can say they sold their business for $1.5 BILLION. Let alone a woman... Let alone a woman in her sixties…

But that’s what Lynda Weinman did when she sold Lynda.com to LinkedIn in 2015. Read the lessons I learned from Lynda here.

This week saw the release of Sherrell Dorsey's book, Upper Hand: The Future of Work for the Rest of Us which offers up a personal exploration of how to ensure that marginalized communities aren't left behind as technology continues its inexorable march forward. In the book, readers will learn to think about how we can strategically shape the coming decade to include Black and Brown communities, offering guidelines, insights, and frameworks for navigating the new world of work.

Sherrell is founder and CEO of The Plug - a platform delivering news, insights and analysis on trends in Black innovation) and will be on the podcast soon so do shout if you have any questions for her. Buy the book here.

If you're looking for something to watch this weekend, you may want to check out this week's lengthy (5 hour) presentation from ARK - a video of all the presentations and talks from their research on Big Ideas that will impact us all.

"Change appears to happen slowly and then all at once. Over time, innovation could displace industry incumbents, increase efficiencies, and gain majority market share. With the right understanding of disruptive innovation and a long-term time horizon, investors can capture exponential growth opportunities which we believe deserve a strategic allocation in their portfolios. For this reason, ARK focuses on opportunities likely to scale as technologies converge, transforming entire industries and potentially creating the new world order."

Thank you, as always, for reading this newsletter and for listening to?the podcast. I appreciate you.
