A great listen! Dan Runcie interviews Troy Carter co-founder and CEO of Q&A, a technology and media company. He has also produced his own music, managed some of the biggest artists like Lady Gaga and Eve, and worked for Spotify as its Global Head of Creator Services. In this interview, Dan talks to Troy about trends in the music industry and where it is going, how tech plays a part in that including NFTs, crypto, digital portfolios, Web3 and how it will democratize wealth for artists, Troy’s work with Venice Innovation Labs, and his approach to angel investing.

FILM

I know this is a bit left-field but I found this documentary really inspiring. It follows the story of a criminal court judge who starts a running club on LA’s notorious Skid Row and begins training a motley group of addicts and criminals to run marathons, which in turn, changes their lives, in more ways than one.

The story is one of hope, grit and friendship.

Getting Acquired: How I Built and Sold My SaaS Startup by Andrew Gazdecki tells his story about building a SaaS startup to $10m ARR when he was 21.

Andrew founded Bizness Apps as a broke, twenty-year-old and went on to sell it to a private equity firm at 29—after going head-to-head with Apple over a blanket App Store policy that threatened to ruin him.

This book is an honest look at the highs and lows of a startup journey and how the founder was able to build his own successful business and ultimately, sell it within ten years.
