Week 5 Preview
It’s nice to see the Bears finally figured something out. On Thursday, the Bears went to Washington and won by a commanding 20 points. DJ Moore put on a show finishing the game with 8 receptions, 230 yards, and 3 TDs. Justin Fields was also able to get it done in the air with 282 yards on just 15 completions. Congratulations Bears fans, you did it.
Now onto week 5. This weekend’s slate has a little bit of everything. Great, good, and bad games all across the board. Personally I am looking forward to watching the Chiefs take on the Vikings. Here are my picks for this week’s matchup along with some analysis to provide some justification.?
Week 5 Picks:?
Season Record: (13-19)?
(London) Jacksonville Jaguars at Buffalo Bills
Pick: JAX +5.5
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are both coming off of huge wins last week. After spending a full week in London, the Jaguars are seeking back-to-back wins at Wembley Stadium. I think the Jaguars have the clear advantage in this game, even though the Bills are coming off of a dominating performance against Miami. Not only have they been in London longer, but London is a Jaguars Fan hotspot. I see the Jaguars winning this game outright having a week of being adjusted to London.?
New York Giants at Miami Dolphins
Pick: MIA -12.5
Both coming off of ugly losses, the Giants and Dolphins are looking to bounce back this week. I don’t think many people see this game being very close. With that being said, this Dolphins team just got blown out and I find it very hard to believe they aren’t pissed off about that. Take Miami.?
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts
Pick: IND +2.5
After forcing overtime late last weekend, I thought the Colts should have beaten the Rams. On the other hand the Titans absolutely destroyed the Bengals at home last week. At the moment, Jonathan Taylor is slated to play Sunday afternoon. If he does, I think the Colts will win this game. Regardless, I just think this Colts team is much better than the Titans. Ride with Indy.?
New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots
Pick: NO +1
I don’t like this line at all. Nothing about this game would entice me to place a wager on either team. Both the Saints and Pats are coming off of ugly losses. I expect both Derek Carr & Mac Jones to have bounce-back performances. I personally think the Saints are an overall better team which is why I am choosing them to win this game on the road.?
Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
Pick: BAL -4.5
I think the Ravens are one of the best teams in the league. Heading to Pittsburgh in a huge divisional matchup, the Ravens look to start their season (4-1). Playing a banged up Kenny Pickett, I think the Ravens are able to cover the spread in this one. Despite Pittsburgh’s petrifying defense, I think Lamar has a great game in the air and Baltimore moves to a strong (4-1).?
Houston Texans at Atlanta Falcons?
Pick: HOU +2
This is another game that I am truly not confident with. While the Texans are on a two game heater, the Falcons are on a two game losing streak. I feel like the Falcons, searching for a spark in their offense, may have a great game this weekend. Ultimately, I think that the safe play is to take Houston and C.J. Stroud in this one.?
Carolina Panthers at Detroit Lions
领英推荐
Pick: DET -9.5
The Lions are rolling. Coming off of a long restful week, the Lions look to continue off of their performance at Lambeau Field from last week. Carolina is the last winless team in the league. They have had some issues being able to keep up with their opponents. Playing a Lions team who is offensively geared; I do not think this will be a close matchup. Take the Lions.
Cincinnati Bengals at Arizona Cardinals
Pick: ARI +3
Here's what I think is happening to the Bengals. The Bengals are downplaying the seriousness of Burrow’s injury. It is evidently clear that he can not move around at all. Which signifies that he is in some real pain. Until we see a fully healthy Burrow, the Bengals are a scary team to bet on. I'm taking the home underdogs in this one.?
Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams
Pick: PHI -4
The Eagles look to start their season a perfect (5-0) and I think they will get the job done in Los Angeles this weekend. While the Rams defense has surprised some people by being somewhat competent this season, I think Jalen Hurts and the Birds will have a field day. Expect to see a massive performance from Devonta Smith and Jalen Hurts as the Eagles fly their way to (5-0).?
New York Jets at Denver Broncos
Pick: DEN -2.5
This game can go either way. Both of these teams are god awful. I think the Jets are the better team, I think the Broncos being home plays a huge factor. The Broncos are 0-2 at home this season and the Jets are 0-1 on the road. Expect a close game at Mile High Stadium this Sunday.?
Kansas City Chiefs at Minnesota Vikings
Pick: KC -3.5
Regardless of what you thought of their win against the Jets last week, the Chiefs are in stride. The Vikings on the other hand, were lucky enough to win last week in Carolina. I think this game will be high scoring and closer than most people think. But ultimately I have the Chiefs -3.5.
(SNF) Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers
Pick: DAL +3.5
Thank god we finally have a good matchup on primetime. The Dallas Cowboys head to San Francisco to take on the 49ers for Sunday Night Football. This game will consist of a lot of run plays. Both the Cowboys and 49ers have dominant ground attacks and expect this game to be decided on who runs the football better. While I think the 49ers are the undisputed best team in the NFL, I would look to see the Cowboys handing them their first loss.?
(MNF) Green Bay Packers at Las Vegas Raiders
Pick: GB +2.5
This line will change depending on the status of Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The Raiders have struggled all season on the defensive side of the ball. Jordan Love and the Packers look to bounce back from an ugly loss against the Lions last Thursday night. I think the Raiders will win this game if Jimmy G does play, but for right now I have the Packers winning in Vegas on Monday.?
