Week 45: A New Kind of Politics

A New Kind of Politics

Today is Election Day in the United States, and millions of people are visiting ballot stations to vote for the politics and politicians that most inspire them.

2024 has been described as the Ultimate Election Year. Globally, there have been elections in over 70 countries, and 49% of people around the world have been casting their votes.

That’s a lot of votes.

The truth is, we vote every day for the world we most wish to experience. We vote with our values, our actions, our prayers, and our presence in the world.

We vote by how we speak to our neighbours, how we treat the cashier at our local food store, how we answer our phone, and how we comment on social media.

We vote by making conscious choices about the foods we buy, the clothes we purchase, the brands we support, and the places we frequent.

We are always voting. So, on that note, here’s what I am voting for right now. It’s a vote in the form of a poem called A New Kind of Politics.

A New Kind of Politics

I’m voting for a new kind of politics.

Based not on opposition, but on imagination.

A politics with an international heart.

A climate change from fear to love.

With a defense budget for trees, and a Ministry for Bees.

A new flag for Planet Earth.

An end to debt economies.

No need for charities.

No third world. Just one world.

Where leaders who dare to love the most

always win the majority vote.

A New Kind of Politics is from a collection of poems called Finding Love Everywhere (published by Hay House) and it is inspired by the belief that love is our chief politics, our shared purpose, and our divine assignment on earth.
