Week 44 Insights: Mastering Time and Energy in the Fast Lane of Entrepreneurship

Back in my developer days, I picked up a game-changing time management trick that's still serving me well. We've all faced those high-pressure moments when deadlines loom, especially when marketing campaigns are set in stone and development lags. ??

I realized that burning the midnight oil wasn't the best approach for making quality decisions. Instead, I started my days early—really early. That meant kicking off around 2 AM here in Europe, which conveniently aligned with my passion for NHL games. ??

This early start allowed me to tackle the heavy lifting when I was at my peak energy and work uninterrupted. It was a great way to structure my day, so tasks became progressively easier. And when needed, I’d jump back into this loop.

As a founder, mastering time and energy is likely one of the most critical skills to cultivate. The ability to dictate your own calendar is empowering. It becomes essential to schedule those heavy tasks or meetings during times when your energy levels are optimal. We all know founders often work nearly all the time, but balancing work with periods of relaxation and recharge is equally necessary—not just during nighttime.

Just like elite athletes, founders face demanding decisions and must learn quickly to stay ahead, making it crucial to recognize what times of day you operate best. Whether you’re moving fast or prefer a steadier pace, understanding your own rhythms can elevate your work and well-being.

Remember, a well-rested mind is more creative and effective.
