Week 42 ????????????
Helena Zilmer Levison
?? Queen of UX ?? actively working on raising the industry standard of UX in Denmark
This week, much like the last, was a bit of a challenge with being under the weather, but despite that, it was full of meaningful work, family moments, and a few exciting outings. Here’s how my week unfolded:
Monday: A Slow Start, but Progress Nonetheless
Monday was tough—I was sick and had to cancel my meeting with my intern, where we were supposed to plan some important tasks. Despite that, I worked on my online course and had a meeting with Rebbie Preston later in the day, which went surprisingly well considering how I felt.
Tuesday: Catching Up and Reconnecting
Tuesday was better. I e-met with Stine from my buddy group to talk about our courses, and then I joined a question hour with Trine Ravnkilde , who’s leading the meta course I’m taking on how to build a course. I felt better as the day went on. In the evening, I met up with Jayden Hanly for sushi and the show 'ProbleMATTic" by Matt Rife , which was amazing. It was so great to reconnect with Jayden since we hadn’t had time to catch up in a while.
Wednesday: Sick but Productive
Wednesday was another "sick day," but I still managed to get some things done. I worked from bed, and Erzsébet Bálint showed me this really cool job tracker she created. Later, I had a great conversation with Jacqueline Slivka , who’s navigating the design job market in Denmark, who wants to from the U.S. to DK. I also continued preparing for my talk on Thursday, including setting up a LinkedIn guide as a freebie for the event.
Thursday: Speaking at the Tech Job Fair
Thursday was another work-from-bed day, but I made some progress around the house before our cleaning lady came. In the afternoon, I spoke at the Tech Jobs Fair . It was really nice hearing from Nischa Don Maak ??? , Leslea Petersen , and the others about navigating the Danish job market. My talk covered the tech scene in Denmark, with a focus on UX and the job market, and it went really well. I got a lot of positive responses afterward, though I was pretty exhausted by the end.
I go on around 1 hour 45 min in, but you can check it out here https://www.dhirubhai.net/events/7156362679962546176/comments/

In the evening, I visited Magdalena and her son Hugo. He’s the same age as Victor, and it was great to let the kids play together while we caught up. It was a nice way to end a busy day.
Friday: A No-Meeting Day to Focus
Friday was a rare no-meeting day, which was such a relief. I really focused on working on my course, specifically the landing page that explains what people get when they join. I’m still debating whether to call it Job Application Accelerator or Job Seeker Accelerator, and I did a poll to help decide. In the evening, I took Olivia to pick up some free clothing from a family nearby, and she was so excited about her new dresses and unicorn teddy. It was such a joy to see her so happy.
Saturday: Family Time
Saturday was a restful day at home. The kids napped early in the day, and then we visited Lars’s mom in the afternoon. She had a new sandbox, and the kids had a blast playing in it. We ended the day with a delicious dinner she prepared. It was really nice to spend quality time with her.
Sunday: Playground, Cooking, and a Lovely Dinner with Friends
Sunday was a mix of productivity and fun. We started off the day by going to a Playground in Kastrup fortet. We did some grocery shopping before going home and tugging in the kids. While the kids napped, I pulled weeds and trimmed one of the hedges before heading inside to clean the kitchen and start cooking dinner and dessert. In the evening, we had Lars’s old friend Brian, his fiancée Johanna Corvenius Kreiss , and their daughter Alice over. The kids played together, and we celebrated Brian’s recent 40th birthday by giving him new AirPods and sharing thoughtful compliments about him. He was clearly touched, which made it all the more special.
After dinner, we got the kids to bed, but the night was rough with frequent wake-ups. Despite the tiredness, it was a really fulfilling day.
Full disclosure: I’m writing this post with the help of ChatGPT. I’m essentially voice-recording everything, and then it’s being transcribed to save me some time.
