Week 38 ??????
Helena Zilmer Levison
?? Queen of UX ?? actively working on raising the industry standard of UX in Denmark
As you may have noticed, I’ve been pretty quiet lately. It’s been a couple of crazy weeks where life has been moving at lightning speed, and I’ve been juggling so much that finding time to sit down, reflect, and write about my day-to-day just hasn’t been possible. Honestly, I’ve either been too busy or too exhausted to do it. And, let me be clear—this blog is for me. I love that people are following along, but it’s important that it gives me something in return. So, if I don’t have the time or energy to post, I won’t force it. That said, I’m going to change things up a bit.
Full disclosure: I’m writing this post with the help of ChatGPT. I’m essentially voice-recording everything, and then it’s being transcribed to save me some time. So, here’s a recap of the week.
Monday: Reflection and Dance Class Lessons
I kicked off the week by biking to Frederiksberg for a one-year reflection session with Helena Bright , CPHUX 's social media assistant. It was such a productive meeting! We reviewed what worked well over the past year and what areas need improvement. The session left me feeling really connected with Helena as a colleague and as a human being. Later, I had a meeting with Jessica Le Roux , who’ll be hosting the UX Meet & Greet next week at Vipps MobilePay in Copenhagen. We talked through the details, and everything is shaping up nicely for the event.
After all that, I picked up Olivia for her first dance class. The instructor mentioned she might be a bit too young, and, well, it turns out that’s true. Olivia wasn’t really into it, so we’ll revisit that idea in about six months.
Tuesday: Course Work and Hedging While Learning
I’ve recently started a course about creating online courses for digital entrepreneurs, but I haven’t had much time to sit down and dig into it. Tuesday was the day to change that. I spent a few hours going through the materials and organizing my thoughts. I’m laser-focused on helping UX job seekers create standout portfolios to get interviews, which is exciting!
During the live Q&A session with the course creator, I decided to multitask. I put in my headphones, grabbed some hedge cutters, and trimmed the wildly overgrown hedges in the garden. It was great to be productive physically and mentally at the same time. That bit of manual labor really inspired me to keep pushing forward with my work.
Wednesday: Social Media, Startups, and Strollers
Another meeting with Helena Bright , this time to work on ConvertKit, the email tool we’re switching to. I also had a cool conversation with an entrepreneur about hiring a UX/UI designer, which helped me understand their needs better. Afterward, I sent out a MailChimp email to our community, which got some good responses almost immediately.
In the afternoon, I had a meeting with our developer, Zdeněk Pa?ek , about the new website. We’re so close to launching it—just a few final touches left, and I’m pumped to see it live.
Oh, and we bought a sibling stroller during mine and Lars’ lunch break! We went to Fields, had some food, and grabbed this epic stroller that fits both kids. It’s a dream to push around.

Thursday: More UX Conversations and Swimming Fun
Thursday was another UX-heavy day. I had another call with an entrepreneur, this time looking for a freelance UX/UI designer. I wrote out another email for the community, but this one had a unique focus on the UX mindset, which really resonated with people. I got great feedback!
In the afternoon, we took Victor and Olivia to their swimming class. We packed a picnic with rye bread and toppings, ate at the pool, and it worked out perfectly. The kids were fed, tired, and went to bed super quickly afterward. Success!
Friday: Candidate Talks and UX in Aarhus
Friday was all about talking to potential candidates. I spoke to three different UX/UI designer candidates and had a great chat with Malavika Gupta , a CPHUX member from Aarhus, about hosting events there. We decided on a UX Meet & Greet every other month. It’s going to be a great way to bring value to the community without stepping on the toes of other UX events in the area.
Victor was sick, so Lars came home early, and we all just took it easy, giving Victor the space he needed to rest.
Saturday: Catching Up with a Friend
Saturday was a breath of fresh air. My friend Mette Valentin Jensen came over around midday, and the timing was perfect—both kids were napping, so we had some adult conversation time. When the kids woke up, we went grocery shopping at Lidl, then spent the afternoon on the porch with cava while the kids played.
In the evening, we made homemade tapas (a delicious tapas mix!) and had a chill night walking around with the kids before putting them to bed. It was just one of those really lovely, low-key nights.
Sunday: Horses, Hedges, and Sushi
Saturday night wasn’t as relaxing. Victor woke up a lot during the night, so we were pretty wiped, which was a little awkward since Mette was sleeping over. But she was a trooper about it, and we still had a fun day. We made breakfast burritos—my favorite—and went for a walk with Olivia.
On our walk, we met a horseback rider, which Olivia was super excited about, and then we fed some horses we found later on. She talked about it the entire way home. In the afternoon, Lars took Olivia for her nap, while Mette and I tackled the garden again—more hedges to trim!
We wrapped up the day with a sushi dinner before Mette headed back to Odense. The kids went to bed easily, and that marked the end of a very full week.
I'll be so glad if CPHUX have some more presence in Aarhus Helena! I've seen so many great events in Copenhagen and sadly I and others can't travel that often to attend them all, especially those in the middle of the week.
