The role of hydrogen in decarbonising heavy-duty vehicle road transport


In partnership with Hydrogen Europe , we hosted a discussion roundtable on the role of hydrogen in transforming the heavy-duty vehicle sector.?

The discussion highlighted hydrogen as a pivotal technology for tackling the decarbonisation challenge, particularly in the long-haul heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) sector. It addressed current obstacles in scaling up hydrogen for HDV transport, including the limited number of refuelling stations and the complexities of navigating regulations and taxation.?


We enjoyed a lively and engaging discussion on the future of hydrogen as a sustainable fuel choice in the business-to-business heavy-duty transport sector.?

Once only a vision, automated driving is becoming an increasingly concrete and realistic possibility for future transportation, but what is the real pathway towards this future? And how are we going to get there?? ?

Focusing on the European Data Economy and the auto industry’s participation in it, we brought together?manufacturers, suppliers and policy makers to discuss this ever-more important topic!?

The event showcased the emergence of a growing and dynamic market for data-driven services, while highlighting the need to simplify the complex legal framework.?

What an incredible week for the automotive industry! The discussions surrounding decarbonisation and the role of hydrogen in heavy-duty vehicles are truly groundbreaking. In my honest opinion, Hydrogen is too far away into the future to compete with ever decreasing prices and weight ratio of batteries, while ever increasing energy density, speed in recharging, and in China, another advantage: swapping with standardized modules in Class 8 trucks.https://www.theautopian.com/tesla-and-nikola-step-aside-here-are-the-electric-semi-trucks-already-on-the-road-in-china/ Electricity is everywhere...Hydrogen??? I am working for decades on a patented BISS - Battery Instant Swapping Systems which could be done even manually, on modules installed under unmodified chassis of electric trucks and trailers, by using novel Concept 4 portable swappers installed on each side of the vehicles. It's a single horizontal stroke that lasts just a few seconds.

I appreciate the author of this post. Their goals for decarbonizing heavy-duty vehicles and advancements in automated vehicles are thoughtful and instructive. I find this topic very fascinating.
