Week 3 as CEO For One Month

Week 3 as CEO For One Month

Biggest experience

This week’s biggest experience was spending a whole day at Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH). The reason for this is two-fold. First, I knew a little about the LHH business and the market it operates. However, I was quickly made more aware of the whole product cycle of what LHH offers. This opened my eyes to understand the lifecycle an employee goes through and how companies like LHH can support them throughout. Second, it clarified how personal their business is. I personally have never been laid off or gone through a transition period and therefore, it is hard for me to comprehend. Nevertheless, the people at LHH showed me that it may happen to anyone, no matter the position you’re in, and these are very sensible times in one’s life. Consequently, helping these people find their feet again is the key to their business. Many people may have this perception (including me) that going from working to not working the next day is very easy and actually, there are many psychological challenges that need to be fought.

Biggest learning/ realization

This week I did my first major television interview with 10-vor-10 on SRF. This was simultaneously my biggest learning as it was the biggest challenge. The interview was positioned to cover the topic ‘the use of AI in the recruitment process’. Studying a masters in information systems, I felt very comfortable answering questions on this topic and therefore, convinced myself that not much can go wrong. Nothing spectacularly went wrong, however, I was quickly brought back to earth when I realized the reporter was teasing me with contractionary questions – playing Nicole’s words against mine. The learning therefore for this week is that you can never be fully-prepared for an interview, things can always come up and you have to be ready to react!
