DAY 190. Hello, amazing souls thank you for coming back to my documented thoughts once again. Still blows my mind 733 people can come from anywhere in the world and potentially provide me feedback on my ideas. For those that are new here, my name is James C Hayes but please just like everyone else for the last 23 years just call me "Jack". I started my first company at 17 years old, selling garage sale luxury on the Facebook marketplace for private sellers. After 2 years and over 200K in net sales, I went to college for a degree in entrepreneurship and as you can guess, left it with an entire new business and an extreme wakeup call that the skill sets I needed for entrepreneurial success in the real world were different than I initially imagined. I've done my best to document most of the journey, whether it be publicly or in private. Many people wait to "make it" before they talk about how they did it, I'd rather give the real version while it happens, to the best of my ability.
That's today's intro, now for the real reason you are here, VALUETAINMENT
1. FIGURE OUT WHY IN THE WORLD YOU WANT TO BE CONSISTENT.
Seriously, for what? My favorite quote of all time is "Most people aren't lost, they simply lack direction. "
You spend weeks, even months giving someone consistent attention to build a relationship with them.
You lift weights to get stronger and feel more respected by your peers (don't lie, you know it's true)
You spend 1-4 hours per day on OGA's (opportunity generating activities) because you know closed mouths don't get fed, and unless people know the value you bring to the table, they can't possibly help you or be helped by you.
Outline the most important areas of your life, if you come up with a list of 10, attack 3-5 at a time
As humans we are instinctively gifted to recognize patterns, if you show up every day in the most important areas of your life, the world around you will have no choice but to recognize.
2. CREATE A PLAN BUT NOT ALL AT ONCE
Where I went wrong when it came to creating consistency in my life was I thought I could go from doing something once a week to 30 days in a row right off the bat.
For a personal story, let's talk about my first years growing my first business. 17-year-old Profit Jack would spend 1 day a week looking for new items to sell, and the rest of the week would only work when responses to the listings were created.
Then I set a challenge to send 25 messages a day for 30 days in a row.
Week 1, 3 days then "got busy"
Week 2, 5 days "felt good"
Week 3, 2 days "busy again"
Week 4, "what was I doing again?"
I would repeat this cycle for another few months.
What I notice now is that
A. I still was doing more than I used to

B. You have to learn to walk before you can run
C. Creating the plan in the first place was 100% better than nothing.
Focus on having no 0 days.
Enjoy the inevitable fact that you will feel less lost throughout the day.
Enjoy your self-confidence that comes as a result of making and keeping promises to yourself.
Focus on the world around you responding more positively.
3. Plan Every Day The Night Before & Execute. .
I like to use the notes app on my phone in order to do this.
Here is a live example of what this looks like:
Put a check next to each thing you accomplish and count your wins for the week.
You are likely doing better than you think but unless you remind yourself of that, you'll never learn to think so.
Final Bell
Consistency in one area of your life, from my experience will lead to consistency in other aspects of your life. So maybe the answer is obvious. Do 1 thing every single day that improves your current situation and then add in or become aware of others. Soon there's going to be no idle time left to question yourself. And when you do find yourself there again, maybe now you'll have a cheat code to ensure a quick stay.
Thank you for spending time with me today, it means more than you know.
