Week 22 Reflections: Reading Insights and Leveraging AI to Shape the Future of Software Engineering
This week has been more about diving into insightful studies and reports, reflecting on what’s buzzing in our industry. One key piece that caught my attention was Gartner's press release on the top five strategic technology trends in software engineering for 2024. If you haven’t read it yet, do check it out here.
AI-Augmented Development:
There’s been a lot of talk about AI-augmented development lately. At our end, we've been regularly leveraging Amplified Development with AI. For those interested in diving deeper into this area, I strongly recommend exploring continue.dev and amplified.dev. These platforms offer great insights into how AI can be seamlessly integrated into our development processes.
Software Engineering Intelligence and Platform Engineering:
However, I found the focus on Software Engineering Intelligence and Platform Engineering most interesting. This approach doesn’t only involve using AI tools internally; it’s about transforming our teams to be more future-proof.
Empowering Technical Leads Without Hiring or Project Outsourcing:
I foresee a significant shift in how Technical Leads can amplify their work without relying on external hires (body shopping) or project outsourcing. By using services like Ottia, which focuses on Platform Engineering and Software Engineering Intelligence in terms of velocity and quality, teams can dynamically and safely adjust their productivity to meet current demands—all without any modifications to existing workflows and risk-free. This approach ensures that teams can scale up or down as needed, maintaining optimal performance and delivering high-quality results consistently.
Until Next Week:
Reflecting on these trends and insights can help us better navigate our evolving industry. As always, I’m here to discuss and support you through this transformation. Feel free to reach out at +358405007680 or send a DM.
