Week 22 & 23- Entrepreneur at Zinc - VB7

In the last two weeks, a lot has happened hence the radio silence! We submitted our IC Memo, we applied to an evidence based program, we pitched last week for investment, and we presented our learnings from our pilot at UCLH
As you can imagine, this was an intense period. Turns out my dog Mozart ended up extremely sick the night before our IC so I had only a few hours of sleep going into this pitch (and again to our UCLH talk). Lesson Learned: Never let a dog drink from a communal water bowl, the best place to catch disease. Antibiotics and an emergency vet visit saved the week. The exhaustion was real..
Investment committee?
We came prepared. We got grilled - this was expected. In two months, we had a partner, a pilot, and patients testing our solutions with multiple iterations of our MVP. This has been incredibly hard work highlighting our speed of execution and determination. We will hear back next week if we got investment and if we can stay six months more in Zinc’s accelerator program. What a delight to bump into David Janner-Klausner (he/him) on our way to our pitch - always supportive!
UCLH Talk
Huge thanks to Jo Franks for opening the doors to a wonderful opportunity. We presented our learnings to a crowd of surgeons and clinicians. This was a great experience and encouraging to see the excitement and engagement from clinicians on our work. It was great to hear the feedback from Professor Amit Goyal - we are definitely considering expanding our work with academics (and grant funding) to demonstrate with evidence at scale the impact of our work. Our theory of change will be our guiding principles to make sure we stay on track of this! Thank you Sofia Llahana for helping us prep for this!
What’s next?
A BIG REST! We will hear back from Zinc next week but definitely need a long break after a really intense six months. We need to recover. It was nice to see the cohort on friday for a party / wrap up time together as we are closing up the first part of the program. Once I have more headspace, I will also reflect on the program and my journey and share in this newsletter - having a couple of potential VB8 contacting me about this adventure. Might be useful for Venture Builder 8!

One quarter of British today live with one or more chronic health conditions, as do over half of Americans, and these numbers are growing.? However, in the UK alone, chronic care is taking up fully half of all GP appointments and three-quarters of total health spend.? Our primary care system simply can no longer cope.? Patients and GPs are suffering as a result.
Introducing Zonder the first end-to-end hybrid service delivering high quality care for chronic conditions.?
Thanks to our specialised team of clinicians and optimised care pathways, patients benefit from a personalised care plan and better access to routine care when and where they need it.? Working seamlessly with and on behalf of primary care practices, we deliver a year of routine care at half their current cost.
That’s my take on these last two weeks but feel free to read some other wonderful cohort member’s summary:
