Week 2022–4 #12
Hello,
It’s Juno again this week. As I promise here are some new updates:
The?worst way?to know if people would pay to use a product or if they would use it repeatedly is ask them directly. Humans are very bad at predicting their future behavior.
?? Netflix
As part of the bootcamp, I always compare Netflix and Blockbuster in order to better understand the user-centered design approach.?This article?explains why having a value proposition is so vital to Netflix’s success.
?? Bye Bye Adobe
There are a lot of designers switching from Adobe to other platforms, especially Figma. To layout magazines or books, a lot of designers use InDesign, but reading this article?Writing a book using Figma?has left me very surprised. Of course, using Figma-only is not the ideal solution because InDesign handles both the visuals and the content.
?? 8-point grid system
With the variety of screen sizes available from websites, apps, dashboards, UI, etc., the task of creating assets has become more difficult. The pixel density has continued to increase, causing designers more work.
During the bootcamp we discuss the 8-point grid system a lot and why it’s important even if some products do not follow it very well. Essentially, you cannot justify your mistakes by looking at other people’s mistakes.
?? Let’s chat
As you know I’m building this place where I wanna connect designers and create an ongoing learning place. If you wanna connect use our?Slack channel.
Portfolio
I’d like to showcase two portfolios this week. The first is from?Clotilde Fourrier, a past student of Ironhack, and the second is from?Silvia Sguotti, a talented graphic designer.
Thank you for reading!
