Week 20 of 24: Reviewing and Prioritizing Items

Regularly reviewing and prioritizing your portfolio content ensures it remains focused and aligns with your evolving UX career goals.

Let's break this task into three parts:

  1. Curating your UX content
  2. The art of prioritization
  3. Reviewing your UX accomplishments

Each part requires a slightly different perspective, and by breaking it down, you can work on specific aspects without feeling overwhelmed or lost as to how to proceed.

Reflect and Prioritize: Curating Your UX Content

Regularly reviewing and prioritizing the content in your UX portfolio ensures that it remains relevant and showcases your best work.?

Reflect on each project's impact, what it says about your skills and its relevance to the roles you're targeting.?

For example, if you're focusing on roles that require strong user research skills, prioritize projects that highlight these abilities. This curation process ensures that your portfolio aligns with your career objectives and showcases your strengths effectively.

The Art of Prioritization: Streamlining Your UX Portfolio

Prioritizing your UX portfolio involves selecting projects that best represent your current skills and professional goals.?

It's about showcasing a breadth of experience while highlighting your specialization areas.?

For instance, if you have moved from general UX design to specializing in UX for mobile applications, prioritize more recent mobile projects. This strategic prioritization helps to create a focused and coherent narrative about your professional journey and areas of expertise.

Choosing What Matters: Reviewing Your UX Accomplishments

Regularly reviewing your UX projects and accomplishments is crucial for maintaining a portfolio that accurately represents your skills and experiences.?

Assess each project for its uniqueness, the challenges it presented, and the solutions you developed.?

For example, a project where you pioneered a novel user testing method might be more significant than a routine design task. Prioritizing such unique and challenging projects in your portfolio highlights your ability to innovate and solve complex problems, making your portfolio more compelling to potential employers or clients.
