Week 21 Aug 26
"There is more to life than increasing its speed."?
Another week - 121 days until Christmas. The Fear of Covid is waning, although the virus is still out there, lurking. Monkey Pox is all the rage, stacking up to be the virus de jour between now and the end of the year. Our little niche is getting littler - at one point not long ago, there were some 8,500 dealers. Today, industry scuttlebutt has the number pegged at around 3,500 with possibly 1,500 active dealers. Most experts credit consolidation as the big get bigger - how long will this movement last? Not even the Private Equity Gods know.
We take a look back to the future with Art's review of the Canon CLC line - a premier color copier. Speeds were low but margins were out of this world.
I'll say it - Seduction and selling; Selling is seduction. If you're selling for a living(and everyone is) you should know this. Seduction is a valuable life skill. Selling in the New World is about attraction; we've evolved from "Push" to "Pull" marketing.
Unleash the power we all have - "...would we tell superman not to stop a speeding bullet?" "No Greg, we would say this to Superman."
It is earnings season all the OEMs releasing statements about the recent past and near future. In the past, I would catch every announcement, listening to them live. Until I realized the content was created, manipulated, presented, and spun for nobody's benefit but the stockholders.
So, although I miss hearing Shannon Cross examining presenters, I do not listen anymore. However, I do peruse summary articles. The Imaging Channel does a great job at distilling hours of oration into a few minutes of reading.
I foresee some changes in store for this newsletter - should be fun. Read and leave comments or hit me up directly, [email protected]
Enjoy your weekend.
Seduce your way to More Sales
Get your mind out of the gutter. Master seduction and you can get anything in Life.
The analogy between selling and seducing has been exposed before - the transaction is ongoing, the intercourse a dance.
Ted Talk, enjoy.
Back in the Day
Canon CLCs from days when you could get a 16G USB for $100.00, and color images earned 0.25/image. Art and Kevin have a quick conversation about the Way We Were, back around 2000ish, and the magic that was color prints; not copies.

What is a copier? "Xerox"
This is an oldie but a good one. How do you define 'photocopier'? This production is not fiction as it is based on court transcripts of a deposition.
