Week 2 update

I continue to be overwhelmed with the generosity of friends and colleagues in my Movember activity. As of the close of week 2, I have achieved 82% of my fundraising goal and and 76% of my running distance (I'm a slow runner).
As this is the case, I'm planning on extending my kilometer goal to 80klm this month and continue to solicit donations. The cause is fantastic, and sadly the need is great for additional resources and supports that Movember contribute to. The cause contributes the donations to a variety of mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Sadly, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men globally. Globally, more than 1.4 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Your risk of developing prostate cancer increases with age, but that doesn’t mean it’s a disease that only affects old men. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide. Men who are of African or Caribbean descent, and men who have a family history (a brother or father with prostate cancer), are 2.5x more likely to get prostate cancer.
If you’re 50, you should be talking to your doctor about PSA testing. If you’re of African or Caribbean descent, you need to start that conversation at 45. And if you have a brother or father with prostate cancer in their history, do it at 45.
To everyone so far who have generously donated, thank you. Nadia Campbell, Alex McCombes, Deb Breckels, Andy Kovacs, Martin Green, Kathy Mazza, Pierre Gratton, Rae Thompson, Geoff Smith, Michael Ras, Allie Meeres, Joe Rossi, Denise Miklasz - and others. I appreciate your support.
