#Week 2: Create dramatically better websites without developer help

Building a website doesn’t need a single line of code today.?But if you skip a few must-have sections, you might as well leave the entrance to your store locked.

Over the past decade I have designed/built websites for numerous business across many verticals. I would have analysed at least 50x more!

According to me, there are?four essential pages?that make a website simple yet powerful. These are the?non-negotiables—whether you’re a freelancer, a startup, or a full-scale business.

1. The Home Page: Your Storefront Window ??

Think of your?homepage as your first impression.?It needs to be?clear, concise, and compelling—all within the first few seconds.

Key Elements to Include:

  • A?headline?that tells visitors exactly what you do
  • A?subheadline?that explains how you solve their problem
  • A?call-to-action (CTA)—whether it’s “Contact Us,” “Shop Now,” or “Learn More”
  • A?clean design?that loads fast (Did you know that a 1-second delay in load time can reduce conversions by?7%??Source)

???Example:?Shopify keeps it simple—“Start your business with Shopify.” No fluff. Just action.

2. The About Page: Your Story ??

Customers don’t just buy products—they buy into?you. The?About?page is where you build trust, credibility, and connection.

What to Include:

  • Your?mission statement?(Keep it short!)
  • A?brief backstory—Why did you start this business?
  • Your?values—What do you stand for?
  • A?photo?of you or your team to humanize the brand

???Pro Tip:?According to studies,?52% of visitors?go straight to the About page when visiting a new website.?Source

3. Services/Products Page: Your Digital Shelf ???

If your?products or services?aren’t easy to find, you’re losing sales. Simple as that.

Must-Haves:

  • Clear product descriptions?(No jargon, just benefits!)
  • Pricing information?(Transparency builds trust)
  • High-quality images?(People remember?80% of what they see?vs. 20% of what they read)
  • A strong CTA?on every section

???Example:?Apple’s product pages are sleek and visual—every feature is broken down into bite-sized chunks, and presented with clear, well-defined value proposition.

I mean, c'mon, look at this ?? :

4. Contact Page: Your Open Line ??

Imagine a customer?wants to reach you?but can’t find how. Frustrating, right? A poor contact page can cost you leads.

Essentials:

  • A?contact form?(Short and sweet)
  • An?email address?(Because some prefer direct outreach)
  • A?phone number?(If applicable)
  • Links to your?social media?(For credibility)

???Pro Tip:?Websites with clear contact details convert?30-50% better?than those without.?(Source: RAZE . Btw, this website can give Apple a run for their money!)

Wrapping Up: What’s Missing? ??

These?four pages?lay the foundation, but depending on your business, you might also need:

  • A?Blog?(For SEO and authority)
  • A?FAQ Page?(To answer common concerns)
  • A?Testimonials Page?(To build trust with social proof)

So, what do you think??What’s one must-have page you’d add to the list??Drop your thoughts in the comments! ??
