On April 1st, seven aid workers of The World Central Kitchen lost their lives in an air strike in Gaza. This situation has saddened the world and moved leaders to reestablish peace conversations. The Economist

"In January, Nancy Pelosi nominated Mr José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, for a Nobel Peace Prize for bringing hope during “dark and difficult” moments. He has seen many of them. The chef founded WCK after a big earthquake struck Haiti in 2010. After a hurricane hit Puerto Rico in 2017, Mr Andrés and his team cooked paella for millions. When Russia invaded Ukraine, Mr. Andrés traveled to the country’s border almost immediately, setting up an operation that has served nearly 260 million meals to Ukrainians.

In Gaza Mr Andrés’s team has made 43m meals. They have worked out of 68 community kitchens, alongside Palestinians. The WCK has paused its operations in Gaza; other NGOs followed suit. Without them, people in Gaza will continue to starve." The Economist
