Life seldom ever happens in a straight line, and these are my reflections as I plot my way through it.

Week 14 Reflections: Navigating Job Search Challenges and Celebrating Personal Milestones

Hey LinkedIn Friends and Family,

Three months have gone by since I began my quest for a new role, turning the calendar pages through January, February, and now March. It's been a whirlwind of applications, spanning across various IC and management roles, to the point where the job listings start to feel all too familiar. Despite the challenges and the rumors of redundancies making waves, I'm not alone in this boat, and that brings a small comfort.

The silver lining? I'm still in the game, actively interviewing for a couple of Principal Engineer roles and two management positions, though the details are under wraps due to confidentiality agreements. This week brought a tough lesson on the importance of being concise and clear in interviews, after a misunderstanding led to an unfortunate outcome. It's a stark reminder that initial interviews often lean towards disqualification rather than qualification. It's better to say just enough to clearly answer the questions, but not too much that those words can be used against you.

On a brighter note, my previous tenure at Domain has circled back in the form of potential leads, thanks to old colleagues reaching out. It's heartwarming to know that the impact of good deeds and positive contributions lingers long after you've moved on. This unexpected support has reignited hope and highlighted the lasting impressions we leave behind. Those years working at Domain were some of the best working years I've had so far, and it's always good to see old colleagues again.

Amidst the job search hustle, my son, now seven weeks old, reminds me of the bigger picture. His presence is a constant source of inspiration and a vivid reminder of why giving up isn't an option. He embodies the reason I strive for success and resilience. I want him to look back at these posts and proudly say, "Yes, he was my father."

So, here I am, continuing my search for a role where my leadership can truly make a difference. I'm open to both contract and permanent opportunities. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares for their team and aims to leave a positive mark, let's connect.

Thank you to everyone who's been a part of my journey so far, for the messages, advice, and the joy of reconnecting. Your support means the world.

See you next week!

All the Best,

Philip Laureano
