Week 14: Everywhere Entrepreneurship, Neo-Generalists & More

This week I planned to write an article titled "Is mass entrepreneurship the missing link between the economy and jobs?", in the context of the Indian economy and job creation.

As I started working on it, I realized that is a vast topic and I might need more time to do (my little) research hence it is happily delayed.

I will continue to work on it and hope to share it soon. Nevertheless, I wanted to mention it in the newsletter because I thought it is an important topic and you must know I am currently interested to go deeper on this topic.

In this process, several interesting words/phrases caught my attention and you might want to explore them too:

  • Everywhere Entrepreneurship - from the book bridgital nation by N. Chandrasekharan
  • Mass Entrepreneurship - as I learnt from Ravi Venkatesan
  • Light Entrepreneurship - another interesting shade I found in a few research papers
  • the minimalist entrepreneur - from the book with the same name written by Sahil Lavingia
  • perennial entrepreneur - as I noticed in the title of this meeting on LinkedIn and
  • And many more like serial entrepreneurs, goldilocks entrepreneurs beyond what we already know like intrapreneurs, solopreneurs, social entrepreneurs, technopreneurs, cyberpreneurs, coachpreneurs, lonelypreneurs, hustlepreneurs etc. and a list that keeps growing.

My general deep interest in the topic of leadership is also linked to the topic of entrepreneurship because there is a great intersection of multiple things here and hence I am trying to explore this rabbit hole further.

Since I was thinking and learning a lot about memes last week, I ended up creating an acronym too, on the topic of entrepreneurship that is a new meme in itself.

It is meME (m.e.M.E): minimalist entrepreneur and Mass Entrepreneurship, as I shared my thoughts in this post.

You can see the length this topic is taking up within this article is a sign that this needs a lot more work to be done.

Topics of the week

This week we have a slightly longer version compared to previous editions.

1. Generalists vs. Specialists (or) Neo-Generalist

This is an evergreen debate but have you heard the term neo-generalists? If not, you might want to read these articles on being a super-connector and calling yourself a neo-generalist.

2. A fundamental shift in People Management

Read about this talent transformation "Big Reset" which is a "movement towards human-centered leadership, human-centered management, and valuing employees as assets, not just labor and expense…and that means empowerment, development and investment:

3. Should you celebrate small wins?

A few posts on LinkedIn this week reminded me to go back to Teresa Amabile's Progress Principle. I read about it for the first time in 2013 and since then I have become a fan of celebrating small wins.

4. How not to run out of ideas:

To be creative is not a destination but a journey that has no end. If you are running out of ideas here are the five things you must try. I would like to say that doing them once is not enough but we must learn to repeat them often without getting tired.

From the internet/metaverse

Metaverse is catching up into our vocabulary and I see this growing further and further on my LinkedIn feed, do you agree?

On this page, you can find some interesting quotes about metaverse and my pick from all of them is:

“Meta’s metaverse would be a massive factor in replacing human relationships. Not only would it threaten or endanger human interaction, but it could contribute to people choosing more of the AR world rather than the real world outside the lenses.” —?Eric Schmidt

Giveaway

I love reading books and no matter what people say books are truly gold. Nothing can replace learning from books, apart from learning by experience but it is not always a smart option, you see we all have limited time.

The real learning for me comes when I end up reading multiple books on the same theme/topic. By the way, it is called syntopical reading and I learnt it from a 1940s book titled How To Read A Book.

I prepared these inspirational quotes about books & reading to share with you all.

Let me know what book(s) are you reading this weekend.

This marks the end of the Week 14 edition.

Until next Friday,?keep?tracing your mastery.
