Listening to the Wisdom of Your Heart
I am writing this newsletter on a plane – seat 10a – heading home from Prague to London.?
Today, I gave a keynote talk to 1,000 cardiologists on?The Wisdom Of The Heart. When I received the invitation, I had a feeling that this was God’s way of telling me to listen more to the wisdom of my heart!
During my talk, I shared a model I teach called “4 intelligences” and we are currently exploring these 4 Intelligences in my Success Intelligence Mastermind 2024. The 4 intelligences are:
In my book?Higher Purpose, I wrote about the 4 Intelligences. Here is an excerpt from the section on E.Q. – The Wisdom of the Heart:
E.Q.—The Wisdom of the Heart
It’s a sign of how estranged we humans have become from our own hearts that we are only just beginning to realize that the heart is not only a physical muscle, or a repository for our emotions, but also a seat of intelligence.
Emotional Intelligence (E.Q.) has many facets that include cultivating a wise and loving approach to your emotions, growing your capacity to be involved in conversations that are difficult but necessary, and listening to and following the wisdom of your heart.
Your E.Q. helps you to recognize the conversations you most need to have, and with whom. We evolve through conversation. We must be willing, therefore, to be brave, honest, and vulnerable in these conversations. “Leaders are hosts to the conversations that matter the most,” I tell my clients.
When you work with your E.Q., you are learning to love yourself and to listen to the Voice of Love that resides in your heart. E.Q. helps you live your purpose by following what Carlos Castaneda called a path with heart. In?The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, there is this famous passage about a path with heart. It reads.

Before you embark on any path ask the question: Does this path have a heart? If the answer is no, you will know it, and then you must choose another path. The trouble is nobody asks the question; and when a man finally realizes that he has taken a path without a heart, the path is ready to kill him. At that point very few men can stop to deliberate, and leave the path. A path without a heart is never enjoyable. You have to work hard even to take it. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy; it does not make you work at liking it.
During my talk on?The Wisdom of the Heart, I made a conscious intention to speak from my heart as much as possible.
Afterwards, a young Indian cardiologist came up to me and told me, “Thank you for your transmission. You let a lot of love flow from your heart today.” That’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever received for a talk.
Trusting the wisdom of the heart is my daily practice right now. Hearing the Voice of Love within is my aim. One of the messages I’m getting is about adding more love to everything I do.
Right now, we are all being asked to play our part in helping to create a climate change from fear to love.
