Week 1 in 2023 - Sleep is underrated

MON

I kicked off 2023 with the first of hopefully many 'UX Job Seeker Work Sessions'. Back in 2018, I hosted a 2-week intense UXcubator Bootcamp with 12 amazing UX Talents. That resulted in me doing a Talent Academy which was too loosely structured and not very well received. I had to park it, but it feels GREAT to kinda start it up in a new format. My original 12 are now working in senior positions and I'm so thrilled to have had a small part of their journey.

This new concept is;

• An intro round, hearing who is in the room, what they are struggling with and what they want to work on today
• I do a lightening talk on a topic useful for job seekers
• Work session, where they can work individually or get feedback

For the first one, Aris K. , and Luiza Varella joined me in the office and Christine Haugaard joined online. I went through the different types of companies that are hiring in the CPH area and what to expect from each of them. They all wanted to dive into CVs and we ended up doing a walk-through of all of their CVs where we discussed what worked and what could be improved (and why.) I love getting close to the actual people from our community and being able to increase their professional confidence.

TUE

I woke up just feeling dizzy and nauseous, and ended up sleeping most of the day. Obviously, that was needed and I was very happy my husband was able to take our daughter so I could get better. At the end of the day, I did feel well enough to go teach my Bodyfit class and how I love January in the Fitness Industry ?? My class was filled with happy women ready to punish some weights ?? I get so much energy from them, so I was flying high on their energy the rest of the day ??

WED

I had the pleasure to record the next episode of Why UX? where I interviewed long-time CPHUX member Alina R. Kristensen ?? I find it so interesting to hear how people end up in UX. She started in Business, moved over to Marketing and Branding, then passed some Front-End Development until she found her true passion in UX. Such an interesting profile, so when the episode is live, go check it out ??

I got to welcome a new member to UX Unite ; Ashish Challa who has the amazing tagline "Hardcore tech enthusiast" which just says so much about who he is!

THU

Lars and I started the day off with some baby rhythmic class. It's so fun to be physical together and Olivia loves it. There is nothing better than her big toothless smile.

Once I got into the office there were a lot of loose ends to tie up, and then I got to manually raise each of our members' membership prices. That is the punishment for using a 3rd party provider. It seems smart at the beginning but ?? instead of creating one Stripe subscription under all our members are under they duplicate every membership. So a ton of unnecessary manual labor ?? I'm always a bit surprised to see how many members have their membership paused without me knowing. So from now on I'm gonna go in and check it every 3 months.

Bodyfit was again a success with 27 out of 30 spots taken. Afterward, I went for a "long run", that's what it was called, of 35 mins. It was nice to get back out in the fresh air after a few down weeks due to the Holidays.

FRI

Lars, Olivia, and I got up early and went for the first session of this season's baby swimming class. I got in the water and it is crazy how much she has developed since our last session in mid-Dec. Proud mama.

At work, we have started working on the UX Job Market Report again. Marcin Stefan and I had a great work session where we talked about company profiles as an addition to the report. I've wanted to create company profiles for AGES, so this was a cool starting meeting on it.

Lars and I, started playing 'The Return of Monkey Island' which is the newest point-and-click adventure in the Monkey Island series. I grew up playing these games so it is such an amazing thing to do together. We have already played most of the older ones so it really was perfect.

SAT

I had planned out a surprise date, but Olivia is in a phase where she can't really be without either of me or Lars. So we dropped 3 of the 4 planned activities. Florencia González and Christian Lawaetz Halvorsen came over and we picked up some food. Lars's mom came and took over Olivia, while we went to Comedy Zoo to watch Christian Fuhlendorff, Ane H?gsberg, and Oliver Stanescu. It was a great show, but Olivia cried herself to sleep, so we're not going out together any time soon...

SUN

I let Lars sleep in. Fed Olivia with porridge, and we went for a long walk. When we came back home we switched, and I got to sleep for an hour. Then we went for brunch, which ended up being lunch. Olivia feasted on homemade apple waffles, carrot puffs, and water. Lars wanted to borrow a book on teaching babies sign language, so we went to our local library. They didn't have it and there was no staff, so we'll try another time this week ?? I borrowed a baby cookbook, "The art of drag" and "Jeg er her jo" which is the oldest girl from the T?nder scandal, sharing her painful story. I hope I'll have time to read them, but I think it'll mostly be skimming ?? Lars took home "1984"

We played more Monkey Island, while Barcelona kicked Atletico Madrid's ass, I got to go for a run, do some shopping and take down our laundry.
