Weed's No Joke

Weed's No Joke : We have been joking and laughing about cannabis legalization
and our wild exaggerations of the modified behavior we expect of our fellow
Canadians as they go through a normal day high and second-hand high
ever since last year when our parliamentarians voted to make it so.
Canada and we Canadians will be a big science experiment on
general cannabis usage and society.
Are we mature enough to handle it in a responsible manner?
All joking aside, cannabis (weed) will have an impact on our society from
relationships (with one another) to crime, on our economy, on our motivations
and productivity, our health, our mental health, our youth,
our educational system and learning.
Will we care anymore, about anything?
Do we understand all the potential benefits, costs, challenges
and consequences that cannabis culture will bring?
Real Estate and Cannabis
In commercial real estate leasing or buying property for the business/production
of cannabis there are federal government rules, guidelines, licensing and
RCMP audits and at the local level zoning-bylaws that need to be followed.
Landlords have discretion whether they will allow this activity at / in their properties
regardless if all the other rules, guidelines, licensing and zoning bylaws are satisfied.
Residentially speaking it gets more interesting, challenging and complicated
based upon your individual housing situation.
What are the implications for insurance, mortgage(s) and resale value(s)?
We will learn by trail and error (success), we guess.
Condo boards have passed bylaws to protect the interests of all unit
occupants and restrict (stop) from smoking cannabis, smell, second hand high, mould
growth and growing operations. Property managers and residence will enforce
the rules for everyone’s benefit (the greater common good, balanced
with property rights [a person’s home is their castle; strong principle in law]),
smoke free zones and no grow policies.
Will these Condo living restrictions inspire the sale of single detached homes,
where you will generally be free to grow up to 4 plants per housing unit?
Will we Canadians be a more productive, creative and globally competitive
country or will we fall dramatically behind the rest of the world?
We presumable will be less stressed about nearly everything.
Including but not limited to paying taxes and even coming out to
vote at future elections.
Yes some of us worry a lot because we care a lot.
It’s not about stealing your joy, my friends.
Who benefits the most from this federal government decision to go legal?
Will we care as much after October 17, 2018 or when the supply of cannabis
catches up to the potential demand on the streets and homes of our country.
Keep the conversation going for all our sakes.
Good luck Canada.
