A Wee Charred Baby Leek
Not my choice of title - but that of my colleague, Casey, who decided it was a perfect title for a blog post this week...
We'll go with it, because I'm not one to disappoint. It came around after having lunch today, from our Social Enterprise café The Common Good. We had the special - chicken and haggis pie (which btw was delicious) however, my other colleague wanted leeks in hers. One of those had to be there moments I suppose.
This time of year is my favourite for specials in the café. It's all winter warmer type meals - pies, curries, lasagnes... not so good for the waistline, but delicious all the same.
What's been great this week?
On Friday/Saturday we hosted our £1 Christmas pop-up sale, where folk can come along and grab a bargain before Christmas. We'd not had a Fashion Fix sale in a few months due to lack of donations, however, had some excess stock leftover from our last sale and decided we'd do a £1 sale to make space for our January sale. What a turn out we had! The sale opened at 10am, people were here before I even arrived (at 9am). That's what you call commitment! The whole car park was an ice rink and when our Chief Executive showed up and saw me gritting (I use the term loosely) the car park with a Tupperware and some grit... he got into a pair of wellies and got to work.
We're forever grateful for that by the way, what CEO do you know that would fire on a pair of wellies, grab a wheelbarrow and grit the whole carpark without any moaning?! Or even being asked? So yes, cheers Richie Gallacher - we appreciate it!
We've had one of those days in the office that's been super productive, but full of nonsense at the same time. I've had a very comms heavy week this week. It is the weeks leading up to Christmas and everything is GO. I don't think I've ever, in all of my life, scheduled that many social media posts. I've spent a few hours, scheduling for Tullochan, The Common Good and Fashion Fix - three separate accounts, two platforms for each. Plus press information, talking to local magazines, the council and members of the local community. Plus launching a t-shirt competition to kick start our Tullochan Designs enterprise.
Let me tell you now, I'm grateful for a weeks annual leave next week.
I'm off on my annual girls trip with my two best pals, to Bachilton Farm for a much needed R&R trip. My friends had a tough time as of late, so it'll be nice to cook some nice food, go for nice walks and drink some prosecco in the hot tub!! Perfect weather for a hot tub break. So on that note, that's all for a couple of weeks!
