Wednesday Wisdom: Traditions and Values
As usual, this is the time of year where I begin shifting focus from growth and development, to gratitude and the season of joy and giving.
To wrap up the year, I’d like to revisit a favorite video regarding Lessons about tradition from a little brown bag
Two thoughts come to mind:
First, how have traditions created the type of person you are today and what legacy do they hold in your heart and your past? How have they formed the types of relationships that you have, not just with your family and friends but with your colleagues and business partners? Traditions help to set the foundation of who we are in life. Whether we embrace or reject them, traditions play a crucial role in shaping who we are and how we choose to live and work.
Second, how important for you is it to maintain traditions within your workspace? How important is it to build new ones? Does a company culture with traditions or values that are different from your own affect the way you work and interact within the company? There’s no right or wrong answer, as priorities differ from person to person. Some may look past a company whose culture and values are not fully aligned with their own, while others may hold more strongly to those traditions and values and become disengaged if there’s a misalignment. Disengagement may then sometimes lead to a parting of ways.
Traditions, cultures, beliefs, and best practices are the building blocks of our homes, families, and businesses. Where we most often see success, is when we find cohesion and synergy on where we stand personally with the people and companies we choose to engage with.

Next week begins a holiday reprieve. In this time I hope that whatever traditions belong to you, they help you to find peace and reflection in the final days of this year.
I am thankful to you for allowing me to take up a small bit of space in your content.

Happy Wednesday and Happy Holidays,
