Wednesday Thoughts

Wednesday Thoughts

We've been thinking over recent weeks about changes that are already here as well as on their way to the recruitment landscape. So much has happened since Covid hit and it has been a good exercise to take stock and consider the next period.

We feel In the next two years, the Australian recruitment market will experience various changes in the senior leadership sector. These changes are driven by different factors, including the shift towards remote work, the need for soft skills like emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and digital transformation.

Australian companies are seeking leaders who can manage remote teams effectively, drive sustainability and social responsibility initiatives, while still ensuring they foster a culture of continued high performance. The demand for senior leaders with digital literacy and a strong understanding of technology's impact on business will increase, and the market will also prioritise diversity and inclusion.

As a job seeker in the senior leadership level, upskilling in digital technology, strengthening soft skills, and showcasing remote work experience is highly recommended. Establishing a robust online presence to showcase expertise, achievements, and thought leadership is also important, and demonstrating commitment to sustainable business practices and social responsibility can further help in securing a senior leadership position.

Lastly, staying agile and adaptable is critical for success in the rapidly evolving business landscape.

Just some Wednesday morning thoughts from Harding & Drougas.

Some great thoughts and views abouts about the changing landscape and need for future fit, thought leaders who engage and empower teams. I personally feel “soft” skills should be rebranded to core, critical skills, because how “soft” are they? It is these soft, core skills that will set senior leaders apart!

Reflection is a powerful discipline and your article is a great prompt to stop and review where we are at. Years of isolation has changed the way we interact and soft skills need a re-brand. Technical digital skills and the ability to think in a platform mindset are becoming core, but also common, and increasingly insufficient. People leaders will be set apart by our ability to execute the smooth delivery of new digital platforms and solutions. In addition to, but not subordinate to execution, is the ability to retain and build connection and engagement in the new environment. The deep satisfaction and even joy of delivering excellent customer experience can become lost when we lose connection to colleagues and customers. The digital platform is a lever that can intensity a poor culture or magnify the impact of an engaged and customer focused culture.
