If you're a wedding photographer, you should know that every bride wants the best they can afford on their big day,.BUT this doesn't mean they will choose the cheapest!

The bride knows they will only have one opportunity to capture their special day, so she will automatically be sceptical of the photographer who has the cheapest packages, yet so many photographers are keen to reduce their prices to try and make a sale, this is not the way it works.

Wedding pricing is all about giving value and putting forward the concept of emotion into your sales posts and letters. Remember brides buy photographs for emotional reasons, not because of price. If you can connect with her on an emotional level then you are onto a winner.

Think about what it is she actually wants, yes its photographs, but think more deeply. She wants to enjoy her big day with her family and friends, she wants hassle-free, she wants to know everything will be taken care of and she wants fun, natural and relaxed photographs she can treasure for years to come.

I've seen so many photographers go into detail about what camera's they use and what lenses they have and to be honest this sort of talk is the last thing a bride wants to hear, she couldn't give a toss.

Stop being a photographer and think like a bride, think what you offer and how it can benefit her. If you supply high-resolution images then word it so she can understand the benefits, "All your images are provided to you at full resolution, so you can print, share and copy your wedding day images with your family and friends at no extra cost".

Tell potential clients why you charge what you charge and emphasize the value you provide and the quality of your services. Let them know what makes you stand out. If you are a real people person then tell her, explain how you have a passion for weddings, tell her that it's her big day and she can have whatever she wants, nothing is too much trouble.

I've heard photographers saying "I don't do group photos" well I'm sorry to say if the bride is paying me the money and wants me to stand on the hotel roof and take a photo I'll bloody well do it. It's all about her, the groom and their day, it's not about us and the photographs we take. It's about giving her exactly what she wants, and at the time of purchase finding out her requirements and telling her you're the person for the job.

If people bought on price alone then Audi, BMW and Mercedes would go out of business. Brides understand that price means quality you just need to be able to word it to them and I know as photographers a lot of us struggle with this, but with my pricing and benefits system, you'll find it a breeze.
