WebTalk: Can it replace Facebook and LinkedIn?

I’ve only recently become aware of just how much money Facebook and LinkedIn make from regular day-to-day users. Yes, LinkedIn makes money from premium subscriptions but their primary earning method is advertising. “What do social media platforms sell to advertisers?” you might ask. Is it the space to advertise on the social network? Partially. But the real money is in selling our data to advertisers.
Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms provide a location for people to interact and network with each other. They are amazingly valuable sites because they attract users who willingly fill out profiles that show their interests, careers, age, sex, relationship status, and pictures. Facebook and LinkedIn gather more information than any Census or Survey has in the history of the world. They even run experiments! Did you know that if you were using Facebook in 2014 and before, you were probably subjected to a mood experiment that you knew nothing about!!
Facebook, Google, and LinkedIn know more about you than you know about yourself. We all use these platforms but we are unaware of the patterns we produce. These platforms are completely aware of our browsing patterns and our search history. You can access all this information right now if you like. If you have a Facebook account, then you have a Facebook ads account. You can go to your Facebook ads account right now using this link.

From here, you can search for people in a certain demographic and target them with adverts. Millions and millions of dollars are spent on these advertising campaigns everyday, and all that money goes to Facebook. You and I give Facebook all this data for free, and in many cases we are thankful to be able to use their platform for free.
There is a huge gap in the market for a Social Media platform that will pay people for their data. A site that pays users could attract people away from the current dominant social media platforms. Imagine getting paid everyday just for using social media, this is where the new social media platform WebTalk comes in.
WebTalk is in beta stage, and it’s offering its members a percentage of its advertising revenue. Every new user must be invited by another user and the payment works on a 5 tier system. So, if you invite ten people to join, and they each invite 10 people to join, and each of their invites sign-up 10 more people all the way to 5 levels. Then overall you would be responsible for signing up 100000 people.
You get paid 10% of any income generated by these users. So, if each user generates $1 of income per month for WebTalk, you would earn 10c per month for each user, which based on the 100000 people above equals $10000 per month. If that sounds confusing, it’s best to watch the 5-minute video below; it explains this referral program very simply. WebTalk will then give an extra 10% of that income to charity. It’s a win-win situation, and I have to say, I’m completely behind something like this.
Do I think WebTalk will make it? Short answer, No! I’m really skeptical. I think I’ve seen sites try this sort of strategy before and they’ve failed. We’re creatures of habit and it’s very hard to attract people away from what they’re used to. But this sort of strategy has a good chance of working some day, and it surely represents a major threat to social platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook.
It seems unfair that we give all this data away for free so a large company can earn billions from it. A social network like WebTalk is a real means to provide Universal Basic Income and to provide people with low earning potential the ability to make life-changing income. I really struggle to see it happening, but then I think, why not? Wouldn’t we all be crazy not to adopt something like this?
It already has 1 million users but they’re not necessarily active!! It’s definitely worth taking 30 seconds to sign up for!! Here’s my invite link, why not join and see if this takes off.
