Websites In the Real World
So, you have a business, or a personal goal of some description and you have had an idea hit you like a bolt of lightning, "I need a website!". Well, that is amazing. I mean it is not like me to discourage people from having a website, after all, I have based a large portion of my adult life in helping people do just that; but by the same token, I have also seen a lot of people die in the grandeur, in the illusion that by having a website, all their problems will now be solved.
This is the predominant reason why during the information gathering stage of any web development initiative, I ask tons of probing questions. They may need a lot of additional support and by becoming the solution to the clients' problems, rather than creating more, better outcomes are garnered.
Marketing, Recurring Marketing Strategies, Advertising, Search Engine Marketing, Pay Per Click Advertising, Social Media Marketing, Influencer Collaborations, Mainstream Media Marketing and Advertising, Blog Writing, Vlog Generation; the list could go on infinitely longer than this, as to pertaining to the possibilities of what might be achieved through a great campaign. But you see, none of the above might suite. Having a telephone connection and an email might be the power drive behind your particular effort, and the outcomes you seek thereafter.
So, websites in the real world obtrusively have their role, and the part they play is determined in the scope of your originality to quantify your business methods and see where they naturally lay. Otherwise, your great, new, wonderful, and shiny, big, amazing, awesome, and exciting new website is a paperweight looking forward to its final demand for the hosting subscription to come along and shut it down due to non-payment.

If you need a website, you'll know. It should be clear to you. If you do not need a website, it is still ok to want one, just so long as you know the function of it may not create any extra mechanism to your business acumen.
Shouldn't I be saying that everyone needs a website? No! However, I am of a strong belief that certain industries definitely should have a website, and that too of all their employees.
If you are in a Sales orientated role or are in business whereby having a business card is useful to you, then you are at the mercy of chance if you do not have your own online identity, by way of a website. Even one page with a Call To Action, or Prompt if you like, will make a market difference in your presence and by giving you an online persona, you are two things: credible, and searchable. *Gold!
