Website vs Conversion Funnel… Are They Same?
The biggest difference between a website and a conversion funnel is that a website does nothing and is a 19th century concept. The funnel is a simple way of organizing the thoughts and telling product story, thereby leading the prospect to make a buying decision. Therefore, a funnel is an effective and innovative way of convincing people to buy! With more action taking points
I know that’s an abrupt start… Let me clear up the confusion. I would prefer calling a website a funnel – or rather a sales/purchase funnel that describes the journey of a user within the site – starting from learning about the business and product to getting convinced about reasons for buying the product to making an actual purchase.
There’s no rights and wrongs in this building process of a funnel, as long as there’s nothing misleading, and you are:
1. Not creating too much noise to distract the prospect’s mind to take unnecessary actions other than moving forward towards checkout or filling up the form
2. Building your funnel that would efficiently take a prospect to where you want the prospect to reach
So, build a funnel rather than a website, because a generic website gives you nothing more than a small presence in the web. That’s not enough in 2019. As a consultant I have directed in building many many business websites in the past. Some of them have failed badly, I must admit this. Now is not the time for websites any longer. Because your business doesn’t have much time. You need to generate sales in shortest possible time. In the last few years I have been directing my clients and friends in building funnels (that guide the users step-by-step through the entire buying process) rather than just websites… I think it makes sense to build business – not just websites!
Content is king… Universally True. But how can you make your content work like a king?
Again, there’s never been any thumb rule. I have a suggestion though. Keep it like how two humans converse. I tend to bring in the human-to-human conversation emotion into the virtual platform – Webpage. The motive is to help (not force) your prospects/users engage with what you have to say about your product or service. Many a times I have heard people saying “keep away from the sellers words”. However, I don’t mind being little salesy by the way of presenting:
1. Benefits of your product
2. Features of your product
3. What problems does it solve
Being little salesy is nothing wrong, because your visitors are coming with a buying intent (if you have targeted correctly). They already know that you want to sale your product to them.
