Are Webinars Dead?

Are Webinars Dead?

Last week, a client of ours expressed surprise at the fact that we continue to run monthly webinars on LinkedIn, asking whether people are not webinar'ed out?

A valid question especially since LIVE events are now back in full swing - and webinars seem to be taking a back seat in the post Covid era.

We have been running LIVE monthly webinars every month for the past 24 months, and here are our observations from the field of B2B business development.

Business Development Challenges in the NEW Economy

  • The primary challenge that marketers are facing right now is that the traditional outbound means of targeting prospective buyers have dropped to new record levels - that is as little as 3% for InMail outreach and just 1% on email.
  • At the same time, cold calling has been outlawed in many geographies and 97% of executive decision makers never ever take a cold call.
  • Thirdly, with the onslaught of new media such as TikTok, it has become harder and harder to break through the noise and get the right attention online.
  • And last but not least, we are all drowning in content and getting overwhelmed by the terra-bytes of content on the line (to quote the Google Twins :-)

According to our research, what people really mean when they say they are webinar'ed out is that they are info'ed out - which holds a great opportunity if you understand how to deliver a webinar that takes your viewers on the road to transformation, and not just information.

How to run Webinars that convert

Thanks to the NEW LinkedIn Event Page, which enables you to target the right people and invite decision makers in the industries you are seeking to attract, this quote by Seth Godin encapsulates possibly the biggest benefit of running webinars that convert:

Selling to people?who actually want to hear from you is more effective than interrupting strangers who don't

This is why our proprietary Event Pipeliner? has been instrumental in helping us achieve the following results:

  1. 29,425 senior professionals and decision makers have attended our live webinar series to date.
  2. On average 25 High Value Clients raise their hand after each event (we had 54 at one event!) for a conversation about how we can help them grow their business.
  3. We've grown our business organically through our monthly event series and without spending a cent on advertising, and no cold-calling whatsoever.

Done correctly, webinars offer you the opportunity to

  • Demonstrate Your Thought Leadership
  • Get the Full Attention of Decision Makers
  • Bring your Sales & Marketing teams closer together
  • Command a full 60 minutes of Premium Engagement
  • ?Leverage your Webinar for weeks of Content Marketing

  • Accelerate Your Buyers’ Journey from Awareness to Conversation

And if you serialize your webinars, you are building a Marketing Machine that generates new opportunities every time you run it (we recommend monthly). ??

Dr Nik if anyone thinks they can do more business in person than online, they are looking at the wrong numbers and frequencies. Obviously there are businesses that cannot YET run online. But even hard core estate agents are beginning to see the light after telling me where they thought my brain was located. More than one business experienced growth during lockdowns due to digitising their business model and have seen concomitant revenue declines since economies "opened up" and reverted to "in person" models again. It's a simple function of time.

????Add to this, to continue with digital events or adapt to hybrid events sends another strong message: inclusion, by giving access to all that can be interested in what you have to say but can't attend physically . Bonus, you don't miss a market segment ??
