Welcome to our newsletter where we bring you our bi-weekly insights on fundraising and education.

At Eternal Sparks Consulting, we are dedicated to supporting and informing impactful initiatives that make a significant impact on our global communities. This week, we're here to share some awesome tips on social impact, fundraising, and education. Last week, we had an amazing webinar as part of our 9-week series on Identifying Funders for Non-Profits. Let's jump into the highlights from Week 2!

Last Week's Webinar Highlights ??

We covered Qualifying Funders, focusing on identifying those who can genuinely support your projects. Here are the four indicators to keep an eye on:

  1. Capacity: Look for funders who have the financial strength to back your initiatives. It's crucial to direct your efforts toward those who can make a significant impact.
  2. Geographical Focus: Ensure your projects align with the geographical areas that funders are interested in. This alignment boosts your chances of receiving support.
  3. Interest: Tailor your proposals to match the specific interests of potential funders. The closer the fit, the better your chances of securing funds.
  4. Linkage: Even though it can sometimes be unlikely, try to see if you know anyone at the organization, because it truly maximizes your chances of getting funded.

Strategies for Engaging Potential Funders ??

Engaging potential donors effectively was a major focus. Here are some strategies we discussed:

  • Personalized Approach: Customize your communication for each donor, highlighting their interests and motivations. Building trust is key to meaningful engagement.
  • LinkedIn: Use LinkedIn to establish professional connections and share project updates. Participate in relevant discussions to expand your support network.
  • Email: Direct email communication is crucial. Regular updates, expressions of gratitude, and invitations for further engagement keep donors connected.
  • Phone Calls: Direct, personal conversations can make a big difference. Immediate, personal responses often have a stronger impact.

Grant Research Tools ??

We introduced several powerful grant research tools to help identify and connect with potential funders:

  • Grant Connect (Canada): A membership-based platform providing access to a database of foundations, corporations, and government programs. Grant Connect
  • Instrumentl (US): A premier tool for grant prospecting and tracking for 501(c)(3) nonprofits, offering comprehensive access to active grant opportunities. Instrumentl
  • FundsforNGOS (International): This social enterprise supports NGOs and individuals with knowledge and skills for sustainable development and poverty alleviation. FundsforNGOS

360Giving (UK): A charity helping organizations publish open, standardized grants data, with tools for searching, downloading, and visualizing funding data.360Giving
