1st Party Data: Why & How?

Casino revenues come from a variety of channels and decision-makers.

First-party data — in other words, data that players volunteer — is extremely valuable for understanding player behavior and developing marketing that speaks to their interests.

So, why and how are they providing it to you??

Even if you’re getting their data because they’re visiting your property, there may have been a digital interaction in which they provided their information.

For example, if someone is staying at your hotel, they probably researched their options and reserved their room online.

By connecting your online presence with your retail presence, you can create a more consistent experience, build trust, and develop great player relationships.

Many of your BEST player relationships will start with an email, text or digital introduction.

  • Chalkline players are much more engaged than the general player population.
  • In fact, 35-60% of Chalkline players played slots or tables in any given month, compared to 10-15% for general players.
  • Chalkline players are highly engaged and spend more than others. Here’s how they compared to the general player population:

-- 6.5x total spend (all gaming)

-- 5.6x total number of sessions

-- 5.6x total gaming time


5. So How Do I Get Started?

Start collecting first party data today to build a base for AI analysis.

Getting started with AI might seem intimidating, but you don’t have to do everything at once.?

Instead, start small (and lean on your vendors).

Think about a few ways you can start collecting more data. Maybe it’s through simplifying your loyalty sign-up process, or perhaps it’s by rolling out programs that engage players off-property.?

Generating this type of data will allow your vendors to start building AI-powered player models.

And eventually, these models can help predict individual player behavior, allowing you to craft effective and highly personalized marketing campaigns.
