The webinar I should've received in 2013

The webinar I should've received in 2013

For those who don't know me (yet!) I'm a December 2016 graduate with Marketing and Management from Northeastern University, Boston.

I've had a LinkedIn since July 22, 2013.

Out of curiosity, I started using Linkedin in August 2016 with this post. I didn't know what to expect.

In University I received a LinkedIn 101 class~ which is when I created my LinkedIn, in 2013. I was not taught how to utilize the tools LinkedIn offers to network, learn and discover a career.

Heck, I would've been a LinkedIn superstar had I started in 2013!

Anyway, disappointments aside, soon the final class of 2017 is going to graduate and I'd have done nothing to fill this gap that I know existed.

Being engaged on LinkedIn is half the story, taking actions based on what I'm hearing is the other half.

I decided to fix the problem and close the information gap. Starting this week.

Gayatri's post inspired this action and for that, I am grateful! You can read the post here. Do take a couple minutes to read the comments too - there are gems in there!

I swiftly opened up a Google Sheet. Made four sections about efficient job hunting strategies that I wanted to touch upon. Rapidly filled out those sections. Converted it to a Google Presentation.

I was ready to go!

On Monday and Tuesday I shared, I called, I answered questions, I connected with the community here.

Here's what we talked about (rather broadly)

> Job sites

> Effective keywords. How to find them and use them.

> Boolean searches to find your ideal job faster

> ATS loving resume

> LinkedIn optimization and networking strategies

> Networking 201

Nothing has made me feel better. I left the conversation with a smile on my face.

Also, I have to acknowledge my friends who added to the giveaway section in the end! Thank you all for helping other job seekers in whichever way you can.

Thank you all for giving me the space to share, the acceptance towards learning and the laughs you brought throughout the conversation!

I want to keep hosting these sessions and continuously improving each time!

> Know someone who wants to learn... from one job seeker to another- Tag them!

> Know someone who wants to contribute and share the stage with me - Tag them!

* Please keep following me if you want to keep updated with the #JobSeekerHelper series

Part of the #VanshiChats series

I'll tag round-one participants in the comments section! Please feel free to reach out to them - to network, to learn, to share ideas!
