A big thank you to everyone that joined our exciting webinar yesterday! ?? It was amazing to see professionals from so many backgrounds and industries coming together to learn and be inspired on how to grow as project leaders. ??

To all the current and aspiring project administrators, we’ve got your back - we are here to support and empower you to become leaders. ??

Here are some of the key highlights from the discussion:

For those that are completely new to project management/project administration, including recent graduates with little to no experience:

1. You don't have to have a qualification or certification to become a project administrator. It starts with having the drive, attitude, and right work ethic. ?? You can move from any career into project management.
2. Anyone can become a project administrator - start by leveraging the experience you have acquired in previous roles and aligning this to be relevant to a project administrator role. ??

• e.g. if you have been working as a receptionist, data capturer, office clerk, personal assistant, or virtual assistant, you already possess some experience in records management, filing, reporting, communicating with different stakeholders, and taking notes/minutes. ???

3. Identify a company doing some key projects in the industry you wish to work in and offer to work for free - the goal is gaining experience. If they give you a chance, go for it and push hard, work hard, and prove you have what it takes. Chances are doors for more opportunities will open. ??

4. Get to understand the industry - learn the language of project management, learn the terms, methodologies, and frameworks, and become a member of a platform such as ours where we train and guide you through practical hands-on experience. ??

5. Get certified - Prince 2 Foundation is a good start, and then build from there. ??

For current project administrators and coordinators:

1. Get more involved in projects: For Project Administrators/Coordinators who have been in that role for more than 2 years; you need to reevaluate your role, boost your skills and qualifications, and most of all, start getting a more active role on actual projects (e.g., request to lead smaller projects in your company, or shadow one of the project managers). ??
2. Repackage/rebrand yourself: If you possess more than 2 years of experience in the role and have been involved in project delivery work, it’s time to repackage yourself to a junior project manager role. Show the experience you have acquired running/supporting project teams. ??
3. Get certified - if you do not possess any certification start with certifications like Prince 2 Foundation PRINCE2.com or, if you're in an Agile environment, get a Scrum Certification (CSM/PSM) Scrum.org Scrum Alliance . ??

To PMO Managers, Program, Project, and Portfolio managers ??♂? ???? ????

1. Be a Mentor: Take time to mentor and grow the project administrators in your team - give them a chance to shadow you and be more actively involved in the projects you work on. ??
2. Recognize, reward and acknowledge project administrators in your team: Remember, project administrators are not personal assistants or data capturers on your projects - they are key stakeholders that help ensure the successful delivery of the project. ???
