Webfest Bester than the Rest

Two weeks ago I attended Webfest. It is an event than is better than the rest.

This event was fabulous showcase of Web Series Television or online television series programs.

As a seasoned event planner and as an event planning professional, I am always seeking out ways to learn and grow from each event that I attend as a guest, paid attendee or otherwise.

I was most impressed at the new rules of creating an exceptional event that I learned from attending WebFest as a member of the Media. Here below are the new rules of super events:

Six Rules of super events:

1. Be bold and aim to outperform all possible expectations of event attendees.
2. Feature event hosts that portray self-deprecating humor, during award ceremony.
3. Ensure event hosts make mention of strategies for emboldening equality.
4. Cater to your guests with lavish hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts.
5. Involve your guests in the media frenzy, with a 'step and repeat' backdrop.
6. Feature a prominent celebrity. Even having many celebrities, is better.

There are obviously many other valuable rules to live by when creating impactful events for attendees. But I felt it necessary to mention the recent rules I learned for creating and hosting impactful events.

I was greatly impressed to see a surprise celebrity event host: Gord Martineau, former celebrity news announcer for City TV.

Before the event ceremony, yummy hors d'oeuvres were served. Since I eat kosher food, I was not able to partake of the these items. But they looked tasty and were arranged in an esthetically pleasing manner on trays upon the food table. The drinks available to be chosen and purchased with the provided drink tickets were also served up nicely. I opted for beer. But I saw many event attendees choose from a wide selection of premium wines and sparkling water.

The networking mixer that took place before the awards ceremony offered a great opportunity to meet actors and actress and writers, directors and production crew staff. I met a prominent writer and hope to connect with him soon to discuss his upcoming film projects. I am also a writer. But I have yet to compose a screenplay of my short stories. Who knows? Perhaps one day one of my short stories will become a featured short at a film festival or become the impetus for a new concept for a web television series.

During the WebFest award ceremony, there numerous categories of Web Television series programs and many hosts throughout the award ceremony that hosted the various categories to be awarded. Each event host had their own unique and impactful speech to deliver during their address to the audience. Some used humour during their bit, while others left us in suspense before naming the category winner.

I want to share that I believe that each audience member and each event attendee must have felt like a winner, just by being in attendance at WebFest, just as I did.
