#WebCreators2021 Wrap Up

Helping businesses fix their website and email issues that are stopping them from being seen and sending emails. | Fractional CTO
Earlier today our team attended the WebCreators2021 Conference. This webinar series featured Gary Vaynerchuck, Seth Godin, Swan Sit, and Ronit Cyjon. In this article I am going to break down my biggest takeaway from each speaker.
Gary Vaynerchuck
Some of the key points I will take away from this talk is to become religious with current human behavior. We need to lean in to pattern recognition and embrace it.
Become obsessed with retention not just with customers but with employees. Be a company people want to work for and tell their friends about.
While you hunt for customers (prospecting) make sure your farming (internal processes) are in order. You can hunt all you want but without a thriving farm you aren't making real impact. We want to keep customers and make them feel just as special as they felt when they first got started with us. We need to have a good relationship with our vendors, partners, and managers and be on the same page to build trust and continuity throughout the team.
Post more on LinkedIn and Tik Tok. I know personally I need to do this more which is the purpose of the article. We need to talk more about our experiences, insight, and day to day to create that brand authority. Also with the rise of independent creators the man himself Gary says that websites are still very important as a hub for people to contact the creator so that they can internally collect email address and funnel them to future engagement and ability to monetize their online presence.
When working with clients remind them that they are designing a website ultimately for the customer. The customer is king and you need to make sure you stand ground and do what is best for your client by doing what is best for the customer.
Listen, Listen, Listen to consumer trends. Follow Facebook groups, reddit threads, discords, etc to stay in the know about where trends are headed and complaints customers have with industries.
Seth Godin
When you get busy you hire the cheapest most talented person... which is YOU. As you grow a business you need to put processes in place to allow you to make marketing assets, sell, and what ever your role is to grow the business.
Your first hire should be based on attitude. If you have to hire on skill make sure to fire on attitude. Everyone in your organization needs to have a good attitude otherwise it will bring your entire company down.
You choose your future through the clients you choose. Don't focus on finding a customer and being who they are. Know who you are, what you do, and who you serve first. Be proud of the people you work with and what you do. Do not settle for almost good customers. All clients you work with should be someone you want to continue to work with. Do this by seeking out the smallest viable audience.
You can find this out by using this sentence:
People who believe _______ who want ______ will get ______.
Everything you do with clients is branding, from client communication to onboarding. Everything is your brand.
When designing a website have empathy for the person that will use it. They will know all you know so you need to lead them on a journey and make sure it is easy for them to use.
Authenticity is over rated. Customers want the best version of you and want consistency.
Swan Sit
Be Different where it matters. Don't be different for the sake of being different. How can you look different in the sea of sameness and how can you leverage the assets people don't know about you in that sea of sameness.
Don't focus on just being a technical solution, be a creative outlet and take calculated risk when needed and when there are areas that are saturated. If it works than stick with it but if there is a clear path to make a change and make it a better experience do that.
The future is data. Customize and speak to your customer when possible and if the audience is wide find out who your customers are by asking them and give them what is relevant to them.
There needs to be a redefinition of community. Community is more than just social media. Community is an intersection of commonality of purpose and frequent touch. You need to make sure there is common interest in meeting and the meeting virtual or not sure be frequent enough so that the group doesn't die.
Ronit Cyjon
Design with users in mind. You need to start growing and planning your website before you are there. You need to meet at the intersect of growth and need so customers are successfully serviced. Listen and adapt to users and even when you have a pretty design don't be afraid to throw it away if the ultimate user isn't the focal point of the website.
Wrap up
The WebCreators 2021 conference was well done and lots of fun. I can't wait for next year. If you attended I would love to hear what your favorite takeaways were.
