Let's explore some noteworthy news in the Digital Assets Industry...

Bitcoin Spot ETFs?

Digital Assets has a hot topic recently: the filings for Bitcoin Spot ETFs by big finance names. This development is getting a lot of attention, and rightly so. At present, six spot Bitcoin ETF applications are being reviewed, filed by Blackrock, Fidelity Digital Assets, VanEck, WisdomTree, Bitwise, and Invesco.?

Blackrock's ETF filing is particularly noteworthy as the company, in its history, has filed 576 ETF applications and has only faced one rejection. The mood seems to be one of careful hope, with many predicting approvals.??

What's the potential impact on the industry? It's mostly positive news. Approval could likely spark widespread adoption by investors who were previously not part of the ecosystem, signaling a significant step for the industry.?

What's NOT so hot?

Affirmative Action in Universities: Recent Blow to Diversity and Inclusion?

This is an EVERYONE and an EVERY industry issue! This is exactly why we feel it's important to share our perspective.?

So, what's the situation? Affirmative action, a policy designed to rectify historical injustices and encourage diversity, has recently encountered significant obstacles in the United States. A Supreme Court decision to uphold a ban on affirmative action in state colleges is a setback for diversity and inclusion initiatives within American universities.?

This prohibition on affirmative action will likely have extensive repercussions on racial disparities in higher education. Groups historically marginalized, such as Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous communities, have endured systemic obstacles in accessing quality education. Affirmative action has been key in creating equal opportunities by factoring race into admissions decisions. Without this policy, or a viable alternative, racial disparities in university enrolment could escalate, perpetuating educational inequality and limiting opportunities for marginalized students.?

And what does this mean for Corporate America? Numerous companies are bracing for potential ‘legal spillover’ that could affect them, and there's even growing resistance, in some cases overt, against efforts to achieve equal pay. According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, 22 states introduced anti-DEI legislation this year, although not all have passed. Moreover, the recently passed National Defense Authorization Act has eliminated DEI programs and staff within the Defense Department.?

As reported by The Hill, a group of distinguished Black executives has penned an open letter to the country’s CEOs, urging them to uphold their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives despite the recent Supreme Court decision. The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), comprising over 800 global Black executives, asserted that this decision should not impede DEI implementation efforts. With a 75% decrease in Chief Diversity Officer hires, there's no question that this open letter is necessary.?
