100G ZR QSFP28 Digital Coherent Optics (DCO) Transceiver
Coherent has introduced its 100G ZR QSFP28 Digital Coherent Optics (DCO) transceiver, the first of its kind in a standard QSFP28 form factor. With less than half the power dissipation of rival solutions, it can virtually be used on any switch or router with 100G ports, enabling the deployment of 100G DWDM interfaces without the need for expensive transport equipment. The transceiver is built around Coherent's Steelerton DSP, the first designed for 100G ZR applications, and is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3?-2022 100GBASE-ZR standard. The DSP is paired with an efficient silicon photonics optical front-end and a power-optimized tunable laser, resulting in a typical module power dissipation of less than 5W.
