Web Portal - Solution

Web Portal - Solution

Overview

My client is an established industry leader located in the US, serving the non-insured benefits industry. As part of their services, they offer a custom print shop where custom printed membership cards and booklets are manufactured on-demand and shipped directly to customers. We were approached to develop a fully functional and easy-to-use print shop web portal to handle an increased workload from growing customers by automating all aspects of the print job life cycle.

Challenges

Prior to our involvement, the entire process from placing the order to billing the customer was lengthy and tracked in Microsoft Excel. Enrollment guides need to be emailed to print shop personnel for printing, including quantities, shipping addresses, etc. Human errors are common during this entire process.

In order to provide a superior customer experience to their clients, my team automates the entire print job process with all features and functionalities. A technical challenge was to develop a modern UI based on wireframes provided by the client while leveraging existing React components developed by clients for consistent brand UX. Despite the challenges, the team's expertise in developing similar applications helped.

To build the application, My team developed a new platform that took into account all of the features such as developing a login module for secure login to the portal, creating, updating or deleting customer profiles, including details in the profile, creating new print jobs with all the information, creating dashboards, managing orders, clients, cost centers, shipping, and invoice generation with minute details in mind. The portal helps automatically calculate price and commission based on a predetermined formula.

Furthermore, my team created the print shop web site with ReactJS as a front-end technology. The backend is written in .Net C#, and the data is stored in MongoDB. The Docker container-based microservices deployment in Microsoft Azure was handled by our Azure cloud experts team. To enable flexibility, adaptability, and scalability, the platform used an event-driven architecture.

By leveraging CI/CD best practises and automatically starting the application build process and delivering the artefact to the Dev, UAT, and Prod environments, our DevOps professionals shorten the development lifecycle.

Results

Our client is quite pleased with the outcomes because the print shop gateway turned up just as envisioned. The print shop site assisted the client in more successfully managing their daily job loads, satisfying their clients, and delivering high-quality products with ease.
