WEB DESIGN VS. WEB DEVELOPMENT: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Web Designer and Web Developer these terminologies are now interchangeable in casual conversations, but when broken down in detail, it’s completely different. When looking for a new website, knowing the difference between a web designer and a web developer can save you a lot of time and let you know of your exact requirements.

WEB DESIGNER VS. WEB DEVELOPER: IN A NUTSHELL:

The main difference is that the web designer is responsible for the look and feel of the website, and the web developer is responsible for the applications and features of the website. Designers create and lay out user-interactive graphics, objects, and layouts, but no programmed interactive elements. In short, using the colours, spaces, and other graphic design principles, web designers create aesthetically pleasing websites that users can access. Web development is coding or programming that allows users to click and navigate between pages. Think of the web developer as the director behind the camera. They are always there, but you never think of them in a good movie.

Difference between Web Designer and Web Developer:

Web Designer:

Web designers are the people who make your website look good. They are primarily related to most of the site and its ease of use. The main responsibility of a web designer is to focus on the style and overall feel of the website by making it more attractive using various software such as Photoshop and Corel Draw.

There are different types of web designers, depending on their role:

User Experience (UX) Designer:

UX is known as the User Experience. Basically, how do users feel and how their needs are met after using software, cars, or other designed devices. Simply put, “Can users use the product as efficiently as the developers intended to use their artefacts?”

User Interface (UI) Designer:

User interface (UI) design enhances the display and layout of digital products in different device views through graphics, illustration creation, and the use of photographic artwork and typography. Interface elements consist of input controls (buttons, drop-down menus, data fields), navigation components (search fields, sliders, icons, tags), and information components (progress bars, notifications, message boxes).

Visual Designer:

The Visual designer role is to aim for the completed product to look attractive. They are a mixture of User Interface and Graphic designer. Don’t get confused between a Graphic designer and Visual designer.

Web Developer:

Web developers are commonly known as Programmers. They turn the designs created by web designers into a fully functional website. They use a variety of software and tools such as Javascript, jQuery, Node.js, PHP, ASP.NET Python. Their main goal is to create a website that works smoothly. Web developers are responsible for working with UX designers, UI designers, and visual designers to create web pages based on the designs they provide.

Web developers are also divided into three types based on the role:

Front-End Developer:

The part of the website that the user interacts with directly is called the Front End,it is also known as the “Client Side” of the application. It includes everything you experience directly, including text colors and styles, images, graphs and tables, buttons, colors, navigation menus, and more. HTML, CSS, and Javascript are the languages used for frontend development. All structures, designs, behaviours, and content that appear on the browser screen when you open a website, web application, or mobile app are implemented by the front-end developer. Responsiveness and performance are two main goals of the front end. Developers need to make sure that their website is responsive and it should display correctly on devices of all sizes. Every part of the website should behave perfectly normal, regardless of the size of the screen.

Back-End Developer:

The backend is the server side of the website. Save and organise your data to make sure everything is working properly on the client side of your website. It’s part of a website that you can’t see and interact with. This is part of the software that does not come into direct contact with the user. Parts and features developed by the backend designer are indirectly assessed by the user through the frontend application. Activities such as creating APIs, building libraries, and working with system components that do not use user interfaces or scientific programming systems are also included in the backend.

Full Stack Developer:

Full stack web developers are the all rounders because they have the ability to design complete web applications and websites. They work on the frontend, backend, database and debugging of web applications or websites.

WHICH IS IT BETTER TO CHOOSE AS A PROFESSION: WEB DESIGNER OR WEB DEVELOPER?

So! Both professions have their own value and both are preferable. If you like creating visuals and know when your website is annoying, we recommend choosing web design as your career path. However, if you think you can master the frontend, backend, or both, decide to become a web developer. For further assistance you can contact me @https://instagram.com/zeeuiux?utm_medium=copy_link
