Web Design for Scotty's Construction

Having just completed some updates for the Scotty's Construction website, it's a good opportunity to look back over the three years since my design for them went live.

Scotty's (no relation) needed a site that showcased their stunning building work and made it easy for prospective clients to get in close and study details of renovations and new builds. It's a big deal building or renovating, and the more a user can see and understand about a construction company's finish and process, the more likely they are to make an enquiry and consider them for the work.

That's why I made the most of full-width imagery across the site. Scotty's work has been photographed by some leading architectural photographers, so it was a no-brainer to put that to good use. Some projects I had the opportunity to photograph, which was a refreshing change from working on a screen for the day.

The ability for users to get in touch with Scotty's and breaking down those barriers to encourage them to do so were primary criteria for the design of the site. For Scotty's it was a major success, with direct contacts off the website increasing dramatically along with a marked spike in site visits and most of all, retention and exploration within the site.

It's been a real pleasure working with Scott Feasey and his dedicated, multiple award winning team.

Here's to the next three years!
