Web Design to Agency & Beyond: Issue #02 - Let's Talk AI, Design & Content
Hey there ????
2nd edition of my newsletter! ??
I am calling this initiative a success already as I am seeing it has been welcomed by many of you in just a week (1,696 subscribers and counting!).
I appreciate it so much! So for this week's newsletter, I am going to talk about something really exciting, a topic that has been gaining momentum in recent years...
Future of AI in web design.
This past week has been very exciting as Bertha (an AI writing assistant) has partnered up with YOAST (the most famous SEO plugin on the planet).
I started Bertha.ai last year, along with my friend and co-founder Andrew Palmer.
The idea started as a feature for Atarim - To allow our users to generate content directly on their WordPress websites instead of waiting for the clients to deliver the content.
As we were working on it, it seemed too big of an idea to only be a feature so we decided to launch it as a standalone product.
Since then we created deep integration to Atarim's WordPress plugin so that both the tools work seamlessly together. Reducing the time that it takes to create website content by up to 90%!
But this week, something happened that will shape the way the internet will operate over the upcoming decade.
Yoast the largest solution for SEO that is built into websites with more than 22 million users around the world. The fact that they decided to endorse an AI solution for their user base gives a seal of approval to AI-driven content generation.
We've worked with them closely for months to make sure that our tools work beautifully together.
AI is here and it's not going anywhere.
Bertha is more for content creation, not for web design, but there are other tools that are embracing AI so......
Should we be worried about our jobs as Web Designers and Agencies?
Tools like Github's Copilot are already promising to write AI-driven code in multiple languages and without us noticing, more than 30% of all businesses in the US are already relying on AI in some form or another.
So I can't help but imagine a future where we would tell an AI that we need a website for a Startup or a plumber, and viola, it's done.
So should we worry?
Is AI going to "Terk'ar jerbs" (as they say on South Park)?
Honestly, I think that this is a matter of positioning.
Yes, small "mom and dad" businesses are going to use AI, even without them knowing it.
But more established businesses will need the expertise, strategy, and vision of a professional.
Very much like how small businesses today, can build their own website with templates or DIY tools like Wix or Squarespace, but they come to us for the next level build.
Even when it comes to writing, AI content generators are brilliant for speeding up the workflow and avoiding "Writers Block" or the lack of knowledge that people have. But established businesses still invest 5, 6, or 7 figures per year in professional copywriting services.
So the world changed a bit this week and I'm honoured to be part of it, but we're still a long way until we're all replaced by R2-D2
