Blockchain is a ten year old technology that lived through great turbulence and found some stable use in the new finance models and multi-party accounting applications. The mining of cryptocurrencies evolved from a hobby of rich kids with good graphic cards to huge mining facilities that utilise excessive energy all over the world. Smart contracts and tokens went through several cycles of evolution and extinction of outlandish financial projects. Most of them look like a freakshow of economical concepts but some of them may be a foundation for the next generation of global economic institutions.
One of the puzzles that keeps a major part of our crypto development team awake at night It’s the user interface of blockchain explorers. For some reason it is… boring. Bitcoin and Ethereum both have 5 explorers listed on their coinmarketcap page and their design ranges from bad to okay. The same goes for Bitcoin most popular forks like BSV and LTC except with less amount of listed explorers.
This could have some rational explanation. These are community funded networks and their explorers are done by some volunteers. So there could be some sort of agent problem. No one cares enough to develop a good looking and functional explorer for these networks.
But the same thing goes for blockchains that stemmed from a private enterprise. Tron and EOS both invested heavily into their website design and early presentations. They went with a bang. But their explorers look the same. With a notable exception of eosflare which stands out in design but loses hard on the functional side.
In the end, we have lots of inspirational talks about cool money of the future but the very first window through which users look into the system core processes - the Blockchain Explorers look like a database from the early 2000s.
We designed a Blockchain Explorer in accordance with the customers brandbook and made it look good and functional. Detailed information can be found here Web Blockchain Explorer.
