The WEALTH Thing

It is 22022022, and I have no idea what that means, if anything at all. What I do know is that I find it cool, and I had to incorporate it into my 6.2 Birthday Ticket. The Ticket is intended to be "punched" as a way to stay ever more focused on my Hell Yeahs, if you will.

This morning, I woke to the news of the passing of Nightbirde. Jane Marczewski?was apparently born December 31, 1990 and passed a day before my own 62nd birthday. She was half my age. Around December 31, 1990, I was 30 and returning to Newfoundland and Labrador from living in Vancouver. I had no idea what was ahead. None of us do. But, I have gotten another 32 years in, and still do not know what is ahead. I do have a deep faith that death is no ending. That said, as Nightbirde suggests, we cannot waste time by waiting for this life to be somehow "easier"; and that resonates so deeply and Soulfully for me this morning. I never want to "should" on people but I think her message should be heard by us all.

And that said, last night, without knowing of her passing, I was meditating on Simplicity. Despite the initial appearance of my Ticket above, it is intended to simplify my focus. If it is not on the Ticket, it is not getting my attention. Nope. With that in mind, I thought, reflected and created on a simplified vision and version of my Ticket that might Honor my spirit, and the remembered and loved Spirit of Panda.

Panda was all the Virtues, rolled up in one and practicing them as needed. She never thought about them. She just was them, manifested... as needed.

But she was specifically and wonderfully bold, candid and curious; and I loved and love her for those lessons. Still, and always. With that in mind and heart, last night, I created...

... in Honor of Simplicity, and recognizing our "spirits". My Core Four for moving forward are Epic Engage and BOXsa and HOME, and Baha'i. They represent mind, body, spirit and Soul, for me. They match with my Ticket where Epic, CNA and MCU really fall under EPIC for me. And I have now added HOME which implies family, friends and physical home and space. These four help me to walk the Simple Man thing; so important to my Soul. They will help to to walk my Ticket, everyday. My thought to you this 22022022 (or any day you read this) is comprised of 4 questions.

• What is most important to your mind? What thoughts and ideas are most important for you to pursue and move the needle on? What just cause speaks most to you? What purpose? What science, art, craft, profession or work matters most to you in striving with Excellence?
• What is most important to your body? What activities and exercises bring you most joy and health in wondrous balance? What activities get you moving the way your body most wants to move? Do that. For me, Boxing and Salsa; yes, BOXsa comes to mind.

• What, where and who is most important to your spirit? What and where and who brings you a better understanding and experience of Love? Immerse yourself in same. Make your home base flourishing with that.
• What is most important to your Soul? What best brings meaning to your heart?

Yesterday, I wrote on the meeting place of meaning. Today, and in Honor of Nightbirde, I offer up that WEaLTH is meaning... and is When Excellence and Love Take Hold. It has nothing to do with the trinkets and bobbles we collect. It has nothing to do with the hustle, grind, pivoting and scaling. It has everything to do with finding that science, art, craft, profession or work that has meaning for us; where we can bring our Excellence. It has everything to do with how we bring Excellence and Love to our work and play and life and how we contribute and serve what and who matters most to us, Soulfully.

I know it may not fit the traditional meaning of Ode, but I offer up this poem I wrote in 1992 when Nightbirde was but 2. I called it then, The Secret Truth.

I dare to think Nightbirde understood this better than I. I am thankful for the gift of her life, though I knew her not. She has reminded me of these words and that the work is mindful and within.... and how we walk our lives. Ask yourself, with Candor, those 4 questions. Then practice Courage and Commitment in following through on the answers.
